My dummy spit was about a monaro winning it.......... when i last checked a monaro didnt come out with a grey motor... thats what my dummy spit was aboutCal wrote:I think the year I went they had a prize for grey powered and non grey powered.
To avoid any complaining or dummy spits they should make the voting only for grey powered cars

Well most people had a dummy spit over the same thing mimi, including me. I wasn't singling you out
My point was if I they make the voting only for grey powered cars, then something like a Monaro can't win. Lets not forget it was the entrants who voted for it......

That'd be easy..start with a Morris Major& give it a cut down EK grill & headlights.harry186 wrote:

then all we need is someone to make an EK 1 Tonner.

Re: Grey Pride 2011 - Sunday May 15
Hi there everyone,
I start by declaring my interest. I am on the committee of the FE-HR Holden Owners Club of the ACT and we organise the Grey Pride run every second year. (The FE FC club of NSW organises it the other years, including this year.)
The debate about what the trophies should be for has gone on over a few years at least. In some years it has been one for best stock and one for best modified, and as has been pointed out in this thread, in other years one for best grey powered and one for best non-grey powered (without regard to whether the car came out of the factory with a grey motor or not - just what is in it on the day). It has always been entrants' votes. Sometimes the result has felt odd because of the car (yes the Monaro was felt by some to be outside the range of cars the display primarily caters for) and sometimes because some hefty 'block' votes have been pretty evident.
The ACT club has a strong section of members who say we should do away with trophies altogether at Grey Pride. That is an option.
Nothing is set in stone. Let us have your ideas for 2012 by all means. Also, don't be shy about putting your hand up to have your club take a turn at organising the event one year. The ACT club is not precious about keeping control. The turnout from the FB and EK owners has been really strong for many years and an FB EK club may want to have a turn organising. Just let us know.
Above all I just enjoy the day out. It is a good run for clubs from Sydney, Canberra, the south coast, and the highlands and it is always so impressive to see the park full of the cars we all love.
I'll be there again, unless I break down which only ever seems to be a problem going to or from Berrima - its also my jinxed run about every second year.
Cheers
David

I like that idea (not that I get to Grey Pride) but it takes the arguments between trophy hunters out of it, but it may keep them from turning up at all, then you miss out on seeing some of the best cars , can't win them all!ridgey didge wrote: The ACT club has a strong section of members who say we should do away with trophies altogether at Grey Pride. Less than a week to go.
For those leaving from Canberra, the meeting point will not be as shown on the flyer because the Shell servo is now a hole in the ground. We will meet at the servo on the roadabout at Federal Highway and Antill Street Watson instead.
Cheers
