Hi
This is my first post I have just dropped a warm grey into my EK sedan and was after advise on what would be a good replacement diff for her.
In brief the following as been done to the motor
mill head and block
regrind crank shaft -010''-010"
regrind cam to 25/65
rebore block fit 3.125" pistons
186/202 inlet valves +.005
186/202 exhaust valves +.005
alloy timing gear
fly wheel grind and balanced
5 speed celica box
extractors
twin strombergs
I could go on but it was a sump to rocker cover rebuild, one chao suggested a 3.08 replacement.
Any advise will be much appreciated.
Still thawing out from the Wagga Waggga swap meet today.
What diff ratio for EK?
Gday Stafkel
Welcome to the forum.
My suggestion would be to leave the original grey motor diff gears.
It would give good acceleration through the gears,
& the celica 5th gear would drop the revs a bit for highway cruising.
Any chance of posting some pics of your ride,
We enjoy seeing what members are doing.
Cheers

Hey Devilrod, I run 3.55's behind my 5 speed with 186 power and find I'm changing gears to often around town but on the highway I get 65mph at 2700 revs which does my fuel consumption the world of good. Don't know what the happy comprimise would be "go to bigger or smaller gears" at the moment it works for me.

Sounds like you could go taller gears Theo! Are you running 13's?
Currently I run a trimatic with 3:36 and 14" tyres, I have no tach so am unsure of revs. I guess what I'm saying is you need to find a setup you are happy with. I plan on a 4 speed auto eventually and final diff gear choice is still up in the air.

Speed and Style........... One day I'll get the speed bit.
