Other Fuel tank?
Other Fuel tank?
I am wanting to put a big fuel tank in the EK like Nomad has done to his FB.
I believe it is out of an XB falcon and tanks are very hard to find these days.
Does anybody know of any other combinations I can use that can simply drop in after a bit of cutting?
I'd like to use the original filling hole, and fuel gauge (not sender) as well.

Re: Other Fuel tank?
Best bet is to get a tape measure and head off to your local pick-a-part type wreckers J. I'm sure you'll find a few if you go for a stroll.
Speed and Style........... One day I'll get the speed bit.
Re: Other Fuel tank?
AFAIK, we don't have pick a part wreckers in Perth.Devilrod wrote:Best bet is to get a tape measure and head off to your local pick-a-part type wreckers J. I'm sure you'll find a few if you go for a stroll.

Re: Other Fuel tank?
Why do you want a bigger tank J ? Its a lot of buggerising around for very little gain , if you are driving any distance you need to stop every couple of hours anyway
I started with nothing and still have most of it left.

Re: Other Fuel tank?
J,
I believe there is a guy in Queensland who makes replacement FB/EK fuel tanks in stainless steel, and that he can make them in larger sizes, say 60L. I understand that some in the NSW Club have used his services, but at the last club meeting I heard that you know have to wait 8 months after ordering
Using one of these tanks would save you alot of stuffing around - just take the old one out and put in the new.

Re: Other Fuel tank?
Thanks Stygian, sounds good but I also dislike how the tank is off to the right.
I like everything to be reasonably symmetrical so not only is it wanting a bigger tank but also just changing the look a bit.

Re: Other Fuel tank?
I have a wagon tank in my sedan, the only pain in the freckle is there is no spot for the spare tyre so it takes up too much space.
The XB fuel tank is good, it will sit on top of the rear chassis so it is up higher in the boot but it has a spare wheel well in the middle.

Re: Other Fuel tank?
Apparently VN Fuel tanks fit in quite well.
I just dont know if the VN sender can be calibrated to work with the standard EK fuel gauge.

Re: Other Fuel tank?
might be easier to pull the guts out of a VN guage and fit it into an EK one J , thats what I was planning to do with mine but never got around to it ............

Re: Other Fuel tank?
Hmm, I didnt think of that haha - cheers Blacky
EK Tank is about 35 Litres whereas the VN one is 63 or something along those lines so it is about twice the size.
