DR - sweeeeeeeet EK

Post by NoMAD »

definetly a compliment (i'm sure you know the way i meant it)

i definetly agree with the KISS rule, (although here i am Volvo diff, turbo setup etc...) despite doing these upgrade i'm trying to keep it all simple and effective,

i don't know what mines going to look like when i'm done, (paint wise)

paintjobs considered are (all versions will have pinstripping, thick whitewalls, baby moons & trim rims, chrome toothy grille - eventually):

metallic roof (no lace though - green or cherry red & wheels, white body ( looks like this one may be out of the question - dam you DR)

lismore grey (or similar) all over with cherry red wheels

white body, metallic scollops & wheels, (not to favoured though)

thing is, this is my first 'real' car and i'm going to drive the wheels off it when i'm finished, and i want to be able to park it at shops and what nots, and if it gets scratched then its not to much to repair the paintwork, i dont want any metallics in the main body, and i dont want a colour which really shows up dirt & i dont want to be cleaning it every weekend! (so blacks out of the question)

cheers

Uuuummmm, I think it was a vh40. Will have to check the reciept, I hope I still have it :?

Very happy with the brakes, although they are a single circuit system. The front calipers are torana not HR. But I have had standard HR and boosted before and they work ok.

Actually overall I'm having a blast driving the EK, best thing I could have done. Although I miss the power my old ZD had, but my hip pocket is happier. Clapped out 351 clevo's sure are thirsty....

Dragged this out of the archives :D :D ..... just been through the whole thread, job very well done DR. Be good for some of the other "newer" members to see the cars that were built sometime back and still looking as good as ever 8) 8) .

I am working my way through the older threads and may "rebirth" a few for everyone's viewing pleasure.

Thanks Scotty and Gary, but the old bomb is starting to show signs of wear and tear. But 4th year of daily duties will do that 8)

I think I might compile all the posts I had for my build as this is just the last bit. Can't remember how many threads I had. Give me something to do!

I was wondering what the story was behind the ride in DR's avatar pic. Now I know! :) 8)

I really like that you painted the red motor grey... to me, the red colour never looks quite right in an FB / EK engine bay...if you could hunt down a finned cast alloy rocker cover it would look even more period.

What a nice daily...bet you get heaps of attention every day :) 8) 8) 8)

Only from the odd garbage truck....

I've got heaps of pics of all the rust repairs we did, floors etc but they are on my old computer that died (should try and salvage  ) have copies at work just need to sort through. The car went from a quick brake/driveline blow over to a ground up before I knew it!!!

Seriously one of the nicest old cars to drive daily I've ever owned.
