Quarter vent latch replacement?

Post by hewey »

I need to repair or replace the quarter vent latches on my Ek. The problem is they both dont latch at all at the moment, so effectively I cant lock the car :? I've done a search and can't find much info on the latches themselves, was mostly to do with rubbers for the quarter vents  Am I able to get some second hand or repro latches and fit them? Or do i need to replace the entire quarter window frame? And no I dont want to single piece windows :P

On the drivers side theres a stub

On the passenger side the stub is broken off

Hi Hewey,

I havn't seen repro latches - you'll have to chase down some second hand ones. The latch consists of a spring, button, the actual latch and a tiny rolled pin that holds it in place. You'll need all these 'bits'.

For the passenger side I think you'll need to replace the whole quarter window seeing the stub has snapped off.
