Seat Belts NSW

Just a quick one regarding seat belt fitting in NSW

Do they need to be certified by an engineer?

Have been told two separate things:

1 - No, Because they didn't come out with them they don't need to be (non compliant); and
2 - Yes, because an engineer told me so

No matter what I am going to get an experienced guy to fit them and they will have the correct spreader plates etc,
but just wondering if anyone has been through this and has a definite answer.

Short answer.............yes

I'll be seeing someone this week, hopfeully, about putting belts in mine, so I'll find out for sure.
