The Vic club could post pics of the runs they have had, reidy wrote:The Vic club does lots of stuff, but,,, we discussed putting events, run reports, newsletter etc. on the site but we felt that if we did that then what was the attraction in joining the club?

to show all the Vic non-members all the fun they are missing out on
This forum has been a fantastic tool for getting FB/EK owners together
in SA and WA it seems, which in turn has bought everyone together Australia wide.
Cheers

I can understand the reasons why and some of it makes sense, but a few pics wouldn't hurt once in a while. Might even entice new members perhaps? The attraction for joining as far as I can see would still be there.reidy wrote:The Vic club does lots of stuff, but,,, we discussed putting events, run reports, newsletter etc. on the site but we felt that if we did that then what was the attraction in joining the club?
The Victorian club owns this site and fully funds the upkeep with no cost whatsoever to the other FB/EK clubs and non members.
It puzzles me why more Victorian members don't access the site, so you might ask yourself why we keep the site running? I often ask myself this.
Other sites allow non members only partial access to their sites where we allow everyone access to the whole site. Don't get this the wrong way but, part of members fees go to ensuring that non members are able to use this site free of charge.

I find it strange that a club or members that have such a great thing don't use it especially if they're paying for it. As for costs I offered up ideas to help contribute years ago, as so many people from everywhere use this and I think the vic club shouldn't be the only ones paying.....
I'd like to maybe tag along to a few runs to see what you guys actually do do, but not knowing when they are on and having a wife who works week nights and the odd weekends makes it hard to get to meetings/runs. So until the kids are at school and the wife can work normal hours I'm stuck getting out whenever we can. I'm not one for being a half arsed member. I've been in clubs before and nothings worse than part time members who don't help or turn up to anything. It was the reason for leaving my last club, sick of the same 10 members doing everything. Clubs have a lot to offer, but they do need to show that once in a while.
Speed and Style........... One day I'll get the speed bit.
How many people have been on the site for years and not bothered to join up, $50 per year is not so much to ask. How many non members have event attended a club meeting to find out about what we do or bothered to attend club runs???
Like i said before, pay yah 50 join the club and find out what goes on, if yah don't like it, simple, don't rejoin. If everything we do was posted up here, why would anyone want to join? it would all be free. No members = no money = no site. Simple
I've heard it all before, "i'm not joining a club because....blah, blah, blah. but without clubs lots wouldn't happen, Holden displays, Nationals, etc. Nationals ?? some clubs don't allow non members to enter... we do.
We looked at having a web membership but lots of people howled it down and threatened to leave as forum members.
Maybe Kym could organise a Saturday run and go past a post office tm??

You're right Reidy, without clubs alot of things don't happen. I'm gratefull this forum is here, it helped motivate me to finish my car initailly and with finding a few bits and pieces. I hope when time permits I can repay that by joining up and being an active member, till then I'll keep checking in here and enjoying seeing what everyone else is building and doing...
Sorry Kym, looks like we might be right, Caroline's at work so will check her roster and will have a definite answer soon.

our next night out
Good evening folk
Feel that it was time that we spoke out re the fb/ek car club of Victorias club runs. We joined this club in January 1991, and had a break for a few years due to childrens sport. We re-joined in 1996 and have been proud members ever since. While we live in Mount Gambier (450k's from Melbourne) we are unable to attend meetings but have attended all Vic AHD's (bringing a convoy of our local car club members each year to support the event,). (At the last AHD the Vic club had another couple join from Mount Gambier, being from the association and friendships that were formed from their visit to Mount Gambier last Easter for our clubs 10th birthday celebrations) We attend events where possible and the nationals each year. The genuine friendships we have formed by being members of this club is more than rewarding., (on both state and national level). We receive our newsletter monthly and note the get togethers/runs organized that we are unable to attend, however this is not the club's fault that we live so far away, but we accept that we will attend what is possible.
Question? Do these people not want to join a club because they do not want the responsibility that goes with it!
By the way we will be attending the club's fb 50th birthday on 1st May in Dandenong.
Come on guys we are all playing the same game aren't we, no matter what club or state club we are members of!!
cheers
Roger and Lesley

Re: our next night out
Me personally no, thats why I'll wait till I have the time. The last club I was a member of was for most of the 90's and I enjoyed being a very active member which is also why I won't join till I have the time to give properly. I enjoyed the meetings (ours were very informal and held every second week although as president I held the record for the shortest meeting ever!!) club runs, events and the friendships which to this day still stand even though the club wound down.igor wrote:Question? thanks igor for you input am talking just for mrself here i have never said i dont want to join the club we do want to join a club i have stated in other posts that i would like to join in on some club runs and see if we fit in with the club or not we went to a club meeting and they were all great we just have not been able to get to another meeting with the hours dakam aka dave works and having a child that needs babysitter for us to go to the meetings
i understand what reidy is saying about if he post all club runs on here why pay the members fee when you can find the stuff out for free
maybe the club can post some stuff up about what they did and some pics and then more people will see what they do and think i should join this club and join in
what i have done with the chelsea heights and tooradin thing was not to P people off it just a friendly social thing that i thought may be nice to do as we have meet a few members from her on the forum at different things and found out we all live local to each other
so if i have upset someone am sorry that was not my plan

Seeing the original topic has been hi jacked i do apologise for being able to exercise freedom of speech, As has been stated why post club news then no one would join the the club i tend to disagree but we could get in to a long debate, but buy telling us that the club pays for the forum is exactly what most have beeen talking about little bits of information like that informs people as i have only learnt that tonite.I hve not disageed at all re club news just asking for a ore flexible way to pay & join
As i said earlier i dont get a lot of time thru the day nor on saturdays as everyones personal situation and commitments are different and i dont need to explain mine. all i am saying is make it a bit more flexible for people to be able to join via the modern ways available in this day and age Pay pal wouldnt be to many car buffs who are not in it, EFT most business' and households use it , B pay Mcard and Visa internet banking After all isnt thie internet what we are using at this minute the list goes on as more and more Outlets will not accept personal cheques , if it wasnt so successful and widely accepted then the majority of consumers banks and business must be wrong
