A bit of night work and carpet in, seat in and door on. New seals and refitted trim back on. Added some additional foam to bench seat back rest as well as an air cushion to the drivers seat (underneath). The air cushion was $2 and is the self inflating type.

Took it for a spin and whacko we have heating Geez small luxuries after 10 winters With no heater.

So we are all set to go, we’ll one of us is going, one of us is staying home.

Finally got around to removing the carpet and putting the rubber floor mat in that arrived a week after the 2022 Nats Very happy with the rubber mat and how it looks. Will be easier to keep clean too.

Refitted the firewall panel, after having to disconnect the heater hoses as I forgot the heater pipes go through the panel. Swapped over the heater surround and knobs as they were rechromed.

Also fitted another shutoff valve to the cylinder head for the heater. I discovered even with the one water control valve (operated by internal control) shut the air flowing into the car was slightly warm.

Made a cup holder for the passenger that swings out for use or away under dash when not in use. Small luxury.

Having resolved the wiring mystery I tidied my vintage SW tacho by polishing the plastic body, painting the bezel & base and cleaned the dial face. Installed on the speaker panel. I have a spare panel so was ok to drill a couple holes. It works great and looks ok.

It reads about 1900 rpm at 60 km/hr so I suppose that is right as it also shows 500 at idle. Does that sound right?

I dunno where to set the redline limit mark???

4k RPM sounds about right for a redline on a stock grey , 4001 and you drive over your crank !!!!

To set the redline, count the number of welsh plug holes down the side of the block. Drive the vehicle carefully, at constant engine speed. Stop, let the engine cool, and recount the welsh plugs. Repeat the process, increasing engine speed in 500rpm increments until an extra, oversized, ragged shaped welsh plug is noted. Disconnect the battery, and mark the redline 500rpm lower than the last reading.
