Re: The BLK-CAR

Hey Jack, it's Carl from the panel beating course. I cruised past the tip today and it looks like the EJ has gone. So unless you came out and got it, it looks like you've missed out. See ya next week.

Cheers, Carl

Re: FB Holden that won the Nationals 1992 (Best Original)

G'day Steve, so the old girl is still alive, but hidden away? Great to hear!

I'm not in the market for another old car, the Impala might get jealous, I'm just happy that it still lives. Pity it obviously doesn't get out much.

Cheers, Carl

Re: FB Holden that won the Nationals 1992 (Best Original)

One thing I forgot to mention is that it doesn't really matter to me, I'm GM through and through. My Grandfather was a GM and Holden dealer in NZ since before WWII until he retired in 1978. There's a photo of me as a baby at my parent's, sitting on the bonnet of a brand new HR with a big grin on my ...

Re: FB Holden that won the Nationals 1992 (Best Original)

I was doing a search for paint codes for a 62 Belair (Aussie 4 door). The codes were 585-0243 and TOP 585-0246 and I remembered that they looked like EK codes to me so I googled them and found this website and Steve Jackson's paint decoder. I didn't know that there was an FB/EK website, but I found ...

Re: FB Holden that won the Nationals 1992 (Best Original)

Here's another shot in B&W of the same cars under the Smyth sign. I could probably dig up negs of these photos if you want, then you can get some blown up photos.

I've got other B&W photos of the 92 Nationals if you ...

Re: FB Holden that won the Nationals 1992 (Best Original)

It was a great wrecker, sorry to hear it's gone to Sims, those guys should be shot, like Lee Kernagan when he did those drum muster adds, but instead of drums, most of the stuff that was collected was old cars, not drums! Here's a few more photos. Like an oasis in the distance...

Re: FB Holden that won the Nationals 1992 (Best Original)

That side flash looks pretty freaky, but at least it's still alive!!! I've sold a few over the years that are now long gone, including a reasonable running EK that hit a roo after I sold it, and instead of fixing it the guy used it in a demo derby (didn't last long because the dizzy cap fell off ...

Re: FB Holden that won the Nationals 1992 (Best Original)

Thanks for the welcome, this is a great site. I'm on a similar one in the States for the Chevy. Here's a few more I owned. The EK ute in about 1986 and an EK Standard Sedan in 91. The ute I traded on a WB Statesman in 88 and the EK standard, I think I sold to Lee Thomas in Basin Pocket, or maybe ...

Re: FB Holden that won the Nationals 1992 (Best Original)

Thanks guys, I bought the FB from Mr Colin Robertson Lindsay who lived in Dinmore near Ipswich in Jan 1990. It was a bit run down and needed a bit of TLC to both front guards and one rear door. Mr Lindsay had run into the side of his old car shed a few times. He had bought it new in I think May 1960 ...

FB Holden that won the Nationals 1992 (Best Original)

Hi guys, I used to own many, many FB's and EK's back in the 80's and early 90's and had an FB that won Best Original FB in 92 (3rd Nationals) in Tamworth. I sold the car not long after to Steve Jackson but have always wondered what happened to it, especially as the 92 Nationals was 20 years ago this ...
