Re: Other bikes of interest ?
VTX1300, can't kill them with a stick mate, and sounds like you've found their weak point and sorted it out. The steering head bearings wear quickly from new, I looked at these and had a couple of test rides before I brought my Triumph. In the end the Triumph won out for me as I had one in the 70's ...

Re: Other bikes of interest ?
Few months on and the Triumph America is still holding my interest, have laid back the rego plate and shortened up the rear indicators. Scored some shorter Speedmaster mirrors and seat. Upgraded the shocks to Ikons and spent hours tinkering with the carbs and I think it's running the best its ever ...

I had one a while back, all you need now are thin band whitewalls, spats and venetians and you'll be cruising.

Re: pain in the rrrs stuff laying around
Mick give Ajax wheels a call in Moorabbin 0395557737, I had them make up a new set of 14" chromies for my FJ last year. Really good blokes to deal with and they have been in the game for nearly 50 years, I wanted to run reversed rims all I had to do was tell them what offset I wanted.

Re: Other bikes of interest ?
Well I've been looking at getting another bike for a while now and as another birthday is getting closer I realised I better get serious or it's not going to happen. I decided on a Triumph cruiser but I wanted one that was made in England and a carby model so I can do all my own work, got onto this ...

Re: My Chopped wagon
Looking forward to seeing this wagon on the road, of all the body styles surely a station wagon must be the hardest of them all to chop the roof on and get it right

Re: Aussie icon
Great looking FX sedan or 48-215 as some prefer to call them, I just call them humpies. Its always good to see an old Holden being used and they can pop up anywhere :ewink: On our last trip to Perth I found this well loved FJ in a carpark, absolute classic and it had the latest Hi-tech steering lock ...

Re: Blown grey motor
Hope someone ends up posting a pic of the grey fitted with the GMC 2/71, it's amazing just how talented and inventive some people are. When you consider this engine was put together long before the internet, how many of us use the net as a resource centre for information and online trouble shooting ...

Graham,
You have absolutely nailed the "look", it's perfect
Goodluck with the engineer, this car needs to be cruising the streets and turning heads.

Another mechanic
Can't believe the workshop who recoed your engine would just give it back saying its electrical so its not work they've done, not my business Paul but if you had a full rebuild on a grey with head mods (i.e. red motor valves etc) as well as mild cam, rings ...

Re: Have no clue
You should be able to check cam timing without pulling the front cover. If you know someone with a dial indicator it cam be checked by taken height (cam lift) measurements off the valve or tappet adjuster in relation to various crank positions. I don't have the book handy as I'm at work but I ...
