I had some PMs from Fbeing, he's going to get it checked out by a different fitter and not use it in the meanwhile.
Agree that it seems odd - the seat-belt reels look really well fitted.

What on earth are you doing with a Merlin?
Dad had a Meteor (tank version) crated up for a few years, but we couldn't work out what to do with it, so he sold it on. Only thing we could think of was a boat, but the running costs would have been astronomical. Meteors were only good for about 600 HP ...

With six twin-choke Webers on it. One choke per cylinder.
It is apparently a little challenging to balance the carbs...
Looks and sounds awesome, however.

Re: Do I have to install seatbelts?
not too sure about the baby seat mount through the speaker knockout - dont they just have a couple of tacks holding them in ???
The picture is huge - you can blow it up by opening it in a new window.
And the mount looks dodgy as :(
Four little tabs holding in a huge high-tensile bolt. I ...

Re: 1957 Mark 8 - at least it's the right age!
I'm hunting a triple webber manifold.
They're available new - about US$800 for a bare manifold. Over $3,000 with carbs, fuel rail, linkages, etc. Mostly built for 3.8/4.2 litre engines, I'd expect a 3.8 litre version to be pretty easy to adapt to a 3.4 - the 4.2 will be more difficult.

Building a street daily-driver out of an EK wagon?
The Missus is after a cool car that she can use as a daily driver. She's small, not particularly strong and hates manual gearboxes.
She does, however, love the look of the FC/FB/EK series wagons.
My thought is:
Find a FB/EK in decent condition. Restore the shell & interior, store or sell the ...

Queen Victoria is not for sale! :
I'm the 3rd owner, she's had 40,500 miles on the clock when I bought her a year ago, I've put another 2,500 on in about a year - which is ten times the mileage she's been doing for the last 30 years.
Never apart, never restored. The head's never even ...

Re: Do I have to install seatbelts?
I have a 1957 Mark 8 Jaguar* on full registration in NSW, I also have two kids under 3, and contacted a legal officer at the RTA to get the details of exactly what the rules are.
• You don't need to fit seat-belts in NSW for either full or club rego.
• If you do fit seat-belts, they have to comply ...
