Couldn't help myself after a couple of beers, threw in a max bid of $550 thinking "what the hell" and won it at $520 with 1733 views I thought there would be more interest, only 2 bids

OMG now I have to sit on the fence to which is better FB or EK :?:

Now the stable is
EK (in garage (rebuild))
VT (my Car)
VS (wifes car)
Corolla (daughters car)
Paseo (daughters car)
VL (back yard (stripping parts)
Falcon (company car)
Now I have to find somewhere to put it, looks like its time for the VL to visit simms metal "two go out but only 1 comes back"

The guy that sold it to me had had it for 2 years and done nothing with it and his new years resolution was to clean out the garage so the FB had to go, he also has 2 EH's and an FC that he's selling, the FB was bought from a farmer in west vic that used it to collect firewood on his property.

stood in the back of the UTE and the wood floor is rotted out, pulled most of the flooring out by hand and underneath is a ton of dirt, the spare tyre space is completly filled with clay.

a couple of coat hangers & a lick 'o' paint drop the chev 350 into it and I should have it on the road in 2 weeks !

Great score!!! ,RobinGi!!

The tail gate is fantastic...now go the the local newsagents & buy 2 big sheets of tracing paper and trace the signwriting .. then when you repaint the car you can re-new the signage! 8)

Great car!! 8) 8) 8)

Why not hang that tail gate on your garage wall.
And replicate it when the ute is rebuilt
Once that original sign writing is removed you can never get it back

Then you have a piece of genuine 60's signage, not just a picture of it.

hi guys, i was just looking at your new purchase from ebay. great buy. i was very surprised to see the old girl again, you see i use to own that ute about 13 years ago, i brought it from a guy in watchem in vic, the cops had just put a canary on it when i brought it, i had it for about a year then i gave it to my dad who sold it to a bloke in saint arnaud. i presume that is where you got it from. and i have to say it hasnt changed very much at all. i am spewing i got rid of it now i could have used it for bits for my van.......the original owner brought it new and took it to the states with him when he went many years ago. :D

Thanks robbyr its great getting a history of the vehicle as I asked the guy selling it and he was unable to tell me much,

Being Australia day I thought I'd have a look at the UTE ( trying not to be distracted from the EK build ) its very hard to start so I checked the points and sure enough they were black and pitted so I filed them up into a usable condition now it starts first time
but when it started petrol was pouring out of the carby, half litre by the time i stoped the engine (fuel pump works well !) found the float setting was set a bit high.
found a set of dog tags attached to the engine stamped 179 steel crank, havent seen one of thoes before
also the tie rod is held on with two cable ties and some fencing wire real bush mechanic stuff.

take a pic of the tag, i've seen tags on 179's riveted on where the engine No is saying remanufactured to 186

kool storey to robbyr not doubting it at all but that would have been a big drama taking the car to the states back then, if he was a stubborn old farmer prolly figured he wouldn't be able to drive a car from the wrong side
