Hi all, Well after months of searching with often heart breaking results, I finally found & have taken delivery of my FB ute. Before i go any further, there are some people whom I'd really like to thank who have helped me along my journey.

First n for most: Dave - AKA "Bootlegger" he was one fellar who took me into his shed & was happy to teach me things & I'm looking forward to learning more from him. He also helped me find my ute & he's to helping with the work thats needed.

Secondly - Any one & every one that has helped my with advice, encouragement, topic responses, criticisms etc. This forum is great & the blokes that r willing to give their experience & knowledge is really appreciated!!!

Few??? sounds like I'm accepting an Loggy!

Ok so onto the ute.

Before any of you ask???? YES!!! it's that ute from WA. So I'm sure a lot of u know about this ute.

But once I saw this ute in the flesh! I was amazed how good it was. To me it was the best one that I have seen. To start off with, the Interior of the ute was in really good shape, so we r not going to touch it at all. its got a lot of factory original items. even chalk marks from the inspectors in the production line... WOW!!! Original rubbers that I have not seen on any other ute, that are still intact & good condition eg. tray drip hoses, between were the door closes & the body, Along the top of subframe, inside headlights. Inside the engine bay is a time capsule...still got the factory load warning tag. The tray & tail gate r in really good shape too,NO rust at all. needs a little clearing up, but thats about it.

It does have a bit of rust. The front sub frame where the battery acid has leaked has cause a bit of rust in that section but nothing too drastic. Also the front guard top - Passanger side has a little there too. Both guards have had rust repairs in the bottom, 1 is ok we'll just clean up, but the other was done pretty boddgee so need a brand new section for that. A little in the seals at the rear on both side too, but no real concern.

The car is running but a little rough, but not much to do there. breaks need doing too.

SO! basically the plan is to:
1. Do the rust
2. Get her all straight
3. rub her back n spray original colour in Acrylic
3. do the tray too
4. Do the motor
5. Give her a good clean
BOOM! done. Ready for June Nationals!

HA! aaaaaaaaaaaaaaaam I sure it wont be that easy, but the idea is to get her back to original, & then enjoy her.

So once again thanks all. Enjoy the picx.

Well done Sam, good things come to those that wait. Going by the pics it looks like it doesn't need any body work at all maybe just a good polish! Great find. 8)

Thanks mate...

yer the only real body work is fixing some of the repairs that were done to it over its 50 year life. No serious issues or major work though.

Its obviously had a few minor prangs though n those repairs r a little noticable, so we'll get them sorted.

Hey - Well done Sambo !!!

That was the ute I told ya to get and so after it getting over here via someone else it has found itself a loving home. I am sure you will do a great job on it. Is it going to be a dead stocker or are you going to tweak it a little?

Don't forget your mates now..................lots of progress pics please.

Congrats

Dave Mac :D
