This blue or turquoise EK wagon belongs to the son of the proprietor of Bowral BP. It used to be his daily.

Apparently the guy has lost interest in the car (into 4WDs now) and it sits outside in the rain, hail and snow (Bowral gets all three). We all know how great that is for these cars. The rego expired in 2008 so it has been outside for at least that long.

The car has a grey motor and has scratchplates, bonnet bird and venetians (back window not sure). I sold the guy a Warneford twin Strommie manifold just before I moved to the US (August 2006) so it may be still with the car. Couldn't see from the fence into the back of the car.

It cannot be seen from the photo I took over the fence, but barely visible was a very faded "$10,000" scrawled on the top left hand side of the windscreen.

His father is in the servo weekdays. It might be a case of having to "threaten him with cash". Would be a pity to see this slowly rotting into the ground each time I go to visit mum and dad. Maybe those going to Grey Pride out at Berrima in May might want to drop by...

Don't know what the story is with the EH - probably another pre-loved toy.

Hey RB, my parents live in Bowral and it was where I grew up... a very beautiful part of the world, but there's not much to do....

When i dropped in to check it out it wasnt for sale.. But that was a fair while ago...

It's got 10 gees on the windscreen Mark... must have been for sale at some point... it would be good if it got rescued...

He told me his son owned it and would never part with it.. BUT when your broke things go up for sale..will drop in there tomorrow when i go to Sydney.. Cheers Mark

my parents and grandparents are from bowral and greatgrandparents are also from the district i lived there till i was about 9 i'm even a distant rello of don bradman

stevenson, and Mcdonald on my mothers side grandfather stevenson was the caretaker at the sacred heart convent down from chevalier college for near forever
and grandfather Mcdonald drove a brick truck for bowral bricks also had taxi's and drove busses
my father layed floor coverings for sommers's
think we lived in oxley drive the road up beside the pools, and then we lived in homehale street but i know all the houses are gone from there now
on the corner of bong bong st and bowral st where the rotary park is now there used to be alot of old cars and trucks may have been a wreckers me and a mate used to play there had a cubby house in the back of an old truck

Well I never... it's a small world after all! Ratbox is a Bowral Boy! Those old cottages on Oxley Drive across from the pool are still there, but you're right about the ones in Holmhale st (all townhouses now).
My grandparents had a 1880s cottage right at the Mittagong end of Oxley Drive, with a huge old magnolia tree out the front. You might remember it? The tree got a heritage order placed on it in the '90s. Dad and his siblings sold the place last year.
My grandfather grew up in a house called "Kurkulla" at the end of Evans Lane, just on the right past the Welcome to Bowral sign as you are coming from Mittagong. He was raised by my great great aunt Ada Evans, the first female Australian law graduate and first female barrister of the NSW Supreme Court (we still have her degree and graduation robes). During WW2 there was a munitions dump in the Old Bowral Railway Tunnel right underneath Kurkulla; and some of the workers there would let off the odd flare to entertain Ada in her old age...
Interesting that your Dad worked for John Sommers. There was a rumour going around in the 80s that he didn't commit suicide, but was murdered. Would be interesting to hear what your dad thought about that.

I'll mention the names of your grandparents to Dad and see if he knows something about them...

the wagon was for sale bout 3 yrs ago, may be longer but it was around the time when the chevy college has that car show, and i saw the wagon at the front of the servo, saw it was 10g's and at the time that was a fair bit for an ek/fb (in my eyes anyway) so jus kept drivin,
