hi guys and gals Blok here Id like to start this post by saying what a great site this is ive been brousing a fair bit and looking forward to contributing in the future .I am still looking for a project car but i do have the engine a worked 202 and would like to know how to go about starting it in a frame i have built .is it just a matter of hooking up a radiator and battery and using the screwdriver trick on the starter ,any help would be appreciated thanks

Yes pretty much like that, my old man has a 1927 dodge 4 motor on a wooden frame that originally was used as a sort of pto unit to power saws and the like on a farm.

Without going to a lengthy reply, yes basically you just make a frame to support the engine and wire the coil and starter up in the same manner as if the engine was sitting in the engine bay,connect fuel lines etc.

You can use a screwdriver to cross the solenoid activation tab to the battery positive on the starter but is best to use a switch.It's only temporary so any reasonable size switch will do,don't need a relay but don't use a microswitch either.

If you are only starting and running for a minute or so you don't need water and radiator as the block and head will soak up the heat for about a minute or so ( maybe a bit longer in winter ) before it starts to get hot.It won't hurt,warp,cook anything for this short amount of running time.

If you want to run for longer then yes, you will require at least a garden hose circulating water through but best to go to the extra bit of time and fabricate a radiator mount and simulate the radiator fitment and hook up as it would be in a car engine bay.

Should sound pretty mean, when i first fitted a 186s to my fc i started it without any mufflers just extractors - nice flame thrower it was

got my xmas presant early so i through it on the motor a gilmer belt drive

its alive started today she fired on the first try and started on the second ,oh what a feeling ,good to here it up and running.

Good frame and setup on the floor there, a bit more "professional" than the ones that I do .

Engine sounds good for initial startup.
