steering box removal

hello how do you remove steering box from column (purchased a column that has been removed from car) i wish to take it to rare spares for a change over one thanks warren 
Never bought a reco steering box on exchange but I don't think that the box reconditioners ask for the box to be detached from the column.
They just send a bare column/box assembly and you send them your old one as exchange as far as I know.
