Hi guys,

I just finished pulling apart my carby and have noticed two features not mentioned in the workshop manual I have and am interested to find out what they are.

First, a narrow tube from inside the barrel below the butterfly to the outside of the carby - this tube has been blocked off with a plastic fitting and doesnt go anywhere.
Second, some sort of electric dodad with bit that pushes in and points for connecting two wires, mounted near the throttle linkage. No connected to anything either.

Very strange...

Second dodad sounds like its a throttle up solenoid used for cars that had air conditioning fitted.

Because an air cond compressor uses a few horsepower to run it if you turned it on at idle the engine would stall so this solenoid activates when the air cond is turned on and pushes the throttle revs up to compensate for the power drain that a running air conditioner compressor would use.It is adjustable.

Put 12 volts across the two wires and the solenoid should activate.Unless you have air conditioning fitted you won't need it though.

Not sure by the description on what the first dodad is??

Maybe a photo might help??

Hmm gonna take a guess at vacuum connection?

Maybe even a boost reference ?

The red tubes below leaving my holleys are my boost reference hoses which plumb to the supercharger manifold.

dodad one actually comes in just above the butterly - I'm thinking PCV intake or something similar? - its not the main vacuum line to the carby. Its just a simple ~1mm wide tube entering the carby barrel through the side of the throttle body bit of the carby.

And FB MAD, thats sounds reasonable - I think i'll just take it off the carby in that case.
