Hi all i have an FC ute and it is having a 161 red with a aussie 4 speed, it is still running the original diff and front end for now, what tailshaft if any will fit straight in and can i legally run california side pipes off of extractors, i am in adelaide, also will a diff from a HD wagon axle to axle bolt straight in, i do have a HR disc front end to go in eventually but i want to get it on the road with what its got at present, any advice is appreciated.
Gday Keith
Welcome to the forum
I know the sidepipes will have to have a heat shield of some discription
like you would see on 'T' buckets, perforated sheet steel attached
with a air gap betwwen it and the pipe.
HD diff will bolt staight in no probs.
only change is the rear uni, you will need a matching tailshaft.
FC have a different rear uni to a HD.
I sure a standard tailshaft from a later model will bolt straight in,
someone here will know which one.
Prepare your HR fornt end and your HD rear end so they are all ready to go,
then swap them both in at once to keep the brakes compatable
Cheers
Jeff

Cheers guys, yes the pipes will be done correctly, and i will fit the front end in as sooon as its ready, i am hoping to join a club as well when its on the road, so the SA club looks good , i like the sedan pics and love the triple carb set up, thats what i was thinkoing for the 161 but there hard to find as are a set of extractors to suit, also i am hoping to have a rack fitted to the front end.
