The overlooked model for over four decades.
Great design and flowing lines.
First Holden with power steering.
Holden reworked it by squaring up the rear end styling, and screwed it all up.
But EH owners wont believe that, and keep going on about red motors!
I have owned a few EJ's over the years, still have one. and plans for a couple more.

Came so close to buying an EJ Premier some months back. sort of regret it now. Beautiful looking cars

Geez, beautiful cars.
The first of the old Holdens that I grew up loving. EJs and EHs both. I prefer the tail end of the EJ that Holden used on the comercials...the utes are particularly cool, but must admit I think the EHs are my preferred model when it comes to sedans.
I still regret selling my EH ute a while back. If i'd had the space and money, I would have loved to fix it up but the rust had really ripped it apart before I got a hold of the car, and nowhere to store it in the meantime.
I think I'll always keep an eye out for another.

Huge fan of the EJ myself. Luckily I have 2 im restoring.
having had both EJ's and EH's and restored both, I must say to the distress of EH fans the the EJ is simply a better built and finsihed car.
Little things like how the dash pad ends curve up and mould into a chrome strip that runs along the roof line seperating the roof lining from the walls. where as the EH dash ends taper in exposing a body weld. They dont have the chrome strip either, simply pinch weld around the door frame. EJ's have door rubber on both the door and door frame, where as EH's only have it on the doors. There are also a few other bits and pieces that show how GMH had to cut costs to put in that Red Motor.

Real nice cars the EJ but I would have to disagree with the comment that they stuffed up the EH, I think they both look great 
. As for build quality I can't comment having never looked at them that closely, Trev .

From a design point of view
An EJ has flowing lines that travel from front to back, curves and soft edges
Park an EH next to an EJ and you will see how all the sharp lines and the changed panel countours, do not have that harmonious flow.
HD's have great lines and HR's are just a squared up version.

I'd take an EJ over an EH any day. They are both awesome looking cars.

Funny how times have changed, years ago you couldn't give an EJ away,everyone wanted EH's and EJ's were wrecked for the parts that would fit EH ,hence they are now more hard to find than the EH.
Same applied to the HD which to me was a better looking car than HR.No one wanted them and they were wrecked for the parts that would fit the more popular HR.Not too many HD's getting around now as a result.
Agree with DR, EJ would be my choice between the two models.

An uncle had an EJ Special which he bought new. Was originally grey, though my old man painted it blue for him back in '68.
Told him if he ever decided to sell it to let me know.
Anyway, gave it to his son, who sold it some 5 years back for...............................$500
Still had original clutch and rear brake shoes. All it needed to bring it back to mint condition was a decent buff and the front seat re trimmed.
As for HD's, I can't bring myself to like them. A mate sold his about a year ago. Premier, with HR front end. Mint condition apart from some minor rust on a couple of doors.
Struggled to get 6 grand for it
Told him if he ever decided to sell it to let me know.

AHHH the MIGHTY EJ ..I owned one in 1978...Bought it for $800 and it was an absolute pearler..so original and new (it still had plastic over the door trims! 
)..I drove that car everywhere and even got the ton out of it down the recently built F4 (took all of the freeway to do it, even had proof with Pete "Space Ace" in the passenger seat at the time ).
Great cars, great times!

Theres something about an EJ, in the early days one would think not interested piece of crap now as we get older they appeal I am currently working on an EJ ute for my son and he says I wish it was an EH anyway with its worked 202 Ausie 4 speed disc brakes and limo diff I'm sure he will love it.
