G'day all,

I have finally after 15 years of thorough searching found some Jack Myers exhaust headers for the old grey in the EK! I would like to know firstly if it is ok to run twin pipes straight through to the ass end or is it better to join into one pipe through the muffler. Also what do you think of hooking it up through a hotdog? Will the twin system improve the old girl or is it neglegible?
I'm considering dual strommies as well to go with the warm 138 rebuild.
Any thoughts would be appreciated.

Hi Mall,is it rude to ask what you paid for the headers or what a decent set is worth??

Reproduction headers ( Lanspeed repros from memory ) here:-

Meyers headers have been getting into the $600 area when they do come up.

You could go straight through, some older blokes don't advise it due to absence of back pressure but I really don't see it being a problem. The noise sounds good for the first hour of driving but it becomes annoying after a while and you'll probably wish you had mufflers.Sound tends to be a bit "raw" as well.

Hotdogs would be better or even better a Lukey type sports muffler.

Twin system will give some improvment on its own but only by a few horsepower on its own, better in conjunction with a modified engine.Extractors would be better again by nature of their design in assisting the "extraction" of the exhaust of a particular cylinder by the exhaust pulses of the previously fired cylinder creating negative pressure at the exhaust collector.
