Hi to all.
The LHR brake drum on my EK wagon I have noticed when fitted over the shoes and locked up into position leaves about 1/2 an inch of exposed brake shoe.
This has been like that for quite sometime as the inside of the drum has a 1/2 inch score in it.
It s like the drum is not wide enough or doesn't go on far enough.
Any suggestions would be appreciated.

Is the shoe wired than the drum , or is the drum wider than the shoe ?
Some utes had wider rear brake shoes/drums than the sedans, maybe you have half a ute brake there.

The inside face of the drum is the same width as the shoes its like the drum doesn't go all the way in to cover the shoe all the way however the drum is fitting tightly to the axle face.
Its like the drum has to go 1/2 inch in further to beable to cover the shoe.
Only 3/4 of both shoes are actually making contact with the drum surface.
Weird.

Does the inside edge of the drum fit properly against the backing plate ?

No mate thats where the gap is the backing plate is about 3/4 inch away from the rear of the drum when fitted thats how I noticed the shoes were hang out of the drum.

Think you need to track down some ute drums - put a post in the wanted section.

Nomad I run a chemical division here in Bangkok for a British company that supplies to Paper and Box plants.
I cover everywhere from Mongolia to Indonesia so all Asian countries.
You would be surprised how many early Holdens you see in the country area's of Asia.
90% of the time the cars were originally bought over as company cars for the Austalian ex pats.
So I never get surprised when I am 60ks from a city and see an FC FB EK EH HT HQ driving around.
The Asians have no idea what they are driving.
