Roof racks

This may get me hung, drawn and quatered, but I am gonna say it.........
I don't mind the look some of the low rider VW bug crowd have with the inclusion of a roof rack.
I am trying to visualize what a similar look could be like with the wagon, but am drawing a blank (this weekends been a bit of a blur). Does anyone have any shots of wagons with period roof racks that they could post, pretty please?

They must be mighty strong - look at the size of that statue its carrying !!!
Wouldnt it have been easier to tie down if you laid it flat though?

I think I know the roof racks your talking about - like this one on mine. Was thinking the same thing the other day. Mine is a 60's style rack which the previous owner has mounted bamboo on (it actually looks pretty cool.) I was thinking about getting it chromed and putting some nice cedar slats (like the VW guys do) on it but given the rattyness of the rest of the car I probably won't just yet.

Thanks for the piccies everyone. I am still waaaaayyy off completion, but I like to rethink the final product as I go. You never know where an idea may lead too...
Yeah, rat138, I think the racks in your shot are more the type I'm thinking about. The missus isn't so sure about the look, but hey, I'm not so sure she will be the one driving it!
