Stalling when reving or under load

Engine idles fine, but if reved it stalls or almost stalls.
Especially if under a load at the same time. ?\
Any ideas.
Did a quick video with sound but it probably needs to be near the motor.

Has been doing it all along. Swapped the carbi for one that was running really well, however the car won;t even run using that one.

Have you checked your filter (if fitted) and fuel pump for blockages. It could be not getting enough fuel up to the carby under load.

It probably needs to be warmed up, same happens to my HK when it's cold, Trev

Video doesn't really show too much

but as Trev said, Have you warmed up the engine??
The old girls don't take kindly to driving from cold as modern fuel injected cars do.They will cough and splutter when cold just like in your video.
If it still does it when warm then there could be a few areas to check.

OK I have a couple of new videos with sound, done from under the bonnet.
The engine revs out but only after you get it past wanting to stall when first accelerating. Engine was warmed up.

Finny,
Sound to me like the accelerator pump plunger in the carby isn't giving an initial squirt of fuel when throttle is pumped and/or idle to mid speed passages in the carby are blocked/partly blocked. This gives hesitatation when throttle is opened due to momentary fuel insufficiency.
If it were my car, I'd be cleaning out the carby completely and fitting a new kit including a new pump plunger.
Could be other problems but that is where I'd be starting if it was my car.

FB Mad, that was what I was thinking.
Accelerating pump jet clogged or check valve sticking.
I was going to put the other carby back on and see what it did. It was running perfectly on the car it was taken off, so I couldn't work out why it wouldn't run at all last time I tried it on my car.

Put on my second carbi today.
This was the one that was running perfectly when it was taken out of the previous EK.
Will only start with air filter off, and hand over the carbi.
It also hesitates on acceleration but not as bad.
Got it to idle, but can't start it again, without someone holding hand on and off the carbi.
Compression is 105,110,95,97,80,115. Got number 5 up to 87 with a squirt of oil into the cylinder.
I'm thinking of putting in a Red.

Finny, Have you checked your vacum advance modual. My wagoon was doing the same thing until I found the vacum hose had a crack in it!

OK, so you've tried a known working carby with same results

.
Try Theo's suggestion

, disconnect vacuum advance pipe from the carby and suck hard on it.About as hard as you suck on a longneck on a hot day will do

.
Whist sucking on the pipe, the points base plate in the distributor should move.
If it doesn't, it may have a split pipe ( as Theos did

) or a perforated vacuum advance diaphragm, siezed points base plate or you aren't sucking hard enough!!
See how that goes.
Also, check to see that the centrifugal advance shaft in the dizzy isn't seized.

if a good carby hasn't fixed it then i'm amd thinking it might be a timing issue .... i just recently had a similar issue with a car, then you'd rev it it would all but stall then if you pedalled it you could get it going again then start it revving and it was better up high ....
turned out the thing had 0 degrees advance at idle ..... moved it to 10 degrees and re-tuned the idle etc to suit and its perfect now....
your engine also sounds like its idling awefully high ..... having said that i haven't had any experience with a running grey motor ....

OK, I have found that I need two people to start the car with the second carby, and it keeps stalling once started. So I'm going to swap it back for the original one tomorrow. I also had 2 others (Thanks to my Aunty, but both very dirty), so I've swapped over the best parts.
Will check the advance for fault. Will practice sucking on a couple of beers first.......
I haven't actually tuned the car yet. Makes you do it the old way, as the Grey doesn't have timing marks, and I'm a bit out of practice.
I did try moving the distributor around previously but didnt seem to make any real difference.
Yes it was idling very high, the return spring wasnlt stretching enough and I hadn't bothered changing it. Will try again.

Hey Finny,
I will have a spare carbie next week when we fit twins to the Wagoon, Your welcome to try it on the grey and you'll have to get us over to help find the problem!

THanks Theo, I might take you up on those offers.
I'm going to try the other things today, and see if they have any impact.
I'm starting to think the block/rings have an issue.
