:D I have the interior master parts catalogue and if you need to know what your fire wall no,s mean on the trim just ask and I,ll endevour to work it out. My parts no,s go from FX to HK
I.E. on your fire wall there will be some no,s one row will have TRIM and I need all the numbers to let you know the interior colours I.E.
7411-1047 is Mosaic Turquise and Athens grey bolsters A bolster is used to cover the out back sides and surrounds of the seats and door trims.
Thanks Simon :D :D :D :D :D :D :D :D :D :D :D :D

Simon you only need the second set of numbers to decipher interior trims, the first set 741 (I assume its a typo) is the exterior paint combination in this case Twilight Turquoise and Snowcrest White top.

Actualy Mr Jones you do need the first lot of numbers as they depict what state the car came from. I.E. if you bought a car from Sydney and one exactly the same from Victoria the first lot of numbers will be different but the last lot will be the same. This is used only for the Holden manafacturers to have their own numbers as it would cause confusion when audits were done Australia wide and also because of exports. This will be seen if you compare two cars from the same state that were exactly the same the Id plate will have the same first lot of no,s and the same last lot of no,s but obviously the production no,s will be different. This goes for paint and trim no,s, only.
I hope this has cleared up any doubts you had, you see my father in law is Ron Webberly who was a mechanic for holden when FB and EK,s were new he retired head of service dept Hobart after 20 years and his brain is still sharp, boy you should hear the stories he tells very interesting.

:D one classic was when they came in because the rain leaked in through the top of the door three fellas would be used to fix the problem two would hold the door whilst the other would litteraly bend the top window frame until the door crushed the rubber, scary ay remember these are brand new when they did this . Ron said that at least every FB/EK was treated like this when the water comlaint was made. another thing was if the cars doors when new didnt do the 7 inch slam they would re adjust out the door hinges and rubber mallot were used to round off the door edges. thats why some doors dont look quite right on some cars

Simon the first 3 or later 4 numbers on the trim line are for the exterior paint.
If you need convincing have a good look at Finny's spreadsheet. All the single tone Honey Beige cars have a trim line starting with 511 this will not change regardless of the state of origin the second set of digits can/will depending on the model ie ute panno as this is the interior trim.
bigalhusband wrote::D 680 is Comet blue 1022 is Viscount and Zenith blue with Stardust grey bolsters.

680 is the paint combination for Shalimar Blue and Snowcrest, not Comet Blue as this is an FE 219 interior code and would not appear on an EK 225 body plate.

That said I would also love to hear some of your FIL stories. :D

653 is the combination number for a body and roof painted Seagull Grey w/ Grecian White insert the interior 815 is Mephisto & Chianti Red which is a Special trim

514 is a single tone Morning Grey 800 is Mephisto Red int which is a Standard trim

Combination numbers started at 1 and run sequentially up to around 4000 (FJ uses the same comb for different colours depending on the model)

The list Ive emailed to you might clear up the different trim/body type questions.

Sometimes tags are misstamped or are hard to read so having the 2 forms of paint id are helpful for those resprays. The combination number is used by the factory and dealers, crash repairers use the paint codes as thats what is in the Dulux paint books.

Im interested to know why he thinks there would be two interior codes listed on the tag?
How does it work with the later model cars when the interior code includes a letter ie. F41 or 63V, these never appears as the first set of digits on the trim line?

Heres a couple of published references
the first is from Don Lofflers ' The FJ Holden'
Image

This is from the AMC id guide I think it explains the trim line better than I can
Image

This is the last I'll have to say on the matter, if you dont want to believe me thats fine, I tried.
