Just incase anyone needs these measurements.....

Along the centre line of the bonnet
12" 5/32" from the top edge of the chrome bar for the front hole then,
10" 33/64" further back for the second hole.

It also says to drill the holes at 3/8" seems too big to me though

This is off the original packaging for the NASCO Beauty Kit.

Thanks to @ekspcl and @blacky for variously sharing the measurements and the scanned instructions.

One thing that I find with these cars is the need to frequently deal with bonkers-sounding dimensions like "12 and 5/32" and "10 and 33/64" as opposed to clean dimensions like 309 mm and 267 mm. I realize that the cars were based on imperial dimensions, but nonetheless I find the dimensions hilarious. It also means that I need to find my father's old imperial tape measure, which I usually don't keep close to hand. In contrast, where it concerns finding and using imperial drill bits, I find the dimensions utterly frustrating. Sometimes the fractions are easy to compare (e.g. 3/8 is clearly larger than 1/4) but sometimes the fractions are maddening. How about this - Which is bigger 13/17 or 16/21? This combination hasn't occurred yet, but I am waiting for it to arise somewhere in the depths of the workshop manual.

Reminds me of railway station platform 9 and 3/4 in the Harry Potter story.

be carefull calling them bonnet birds, i copped a drilling on facebook from some old fart rivet counter on they are not called bonnet birds they're bonnet emblems and only the uneducated call them bonnet birds

Wait till you find out there are both imperial and US gallons…

They are bonnet birds… or bonnet budgies…. there is a photo here somewhere of Mr Black doing a good imitation on the bonnet of the Rattler.

If you can use the computer then you can look up the conversion on Google.

I grew up mid flight with these measurements at school, one day imperial next day metric, and yes it can make your head hurt !!
