When the Titanic sunk in 1912 a bloke was found still alive in the freezing water after paddling around on a door for over 2 hours after the ship went down.
Everyone else that was swimming had perished long before that.
He survived after being found and put in a lifeboat.
Apparently he'd drank a full bottle of whisky as the ship went down
.
Alcohol has a lower freezing point than water ( we have water in us
) and the theory at the time was that the alcohol acted as an antifreeze and saved his life
Dunno whether thats why he survived but the grog could have helped I guess
So Aust Mod,
If you ever find you're swimming around in the mid Atlantic in mid winter at around 2 am on an old door then just fill up on whisky and you'll probably be alright.
'till the headache hits the next morning
