Baby Holden FB in South Africa

Post by Alastair Saxton »

Hello FB EK owners. Dad and I have 5 Holdens here in SA. Two are FB's. When my daughter Phoebe was born I decided it was time to put my sketches into action and make the FB pedal car I had been planning for a long time. I now had a driver for it! It took just over a year to produce. Many jigs to get the pressings right and its built of sheet metal. Bumpers and Trim made of stainless steel. Everything except the badges and wheels were made.
Plans are to one day build a rag top or coupe for myself. For now though an early sketch will have to hang on the garage wall. Alastair SaxtonImage

hi Trevor, we have the two fb's , 1 eh wagon and two HR's . One of the HR's has a 186 motor and the other a factory fitted chevy 194 cid motor that is the same as a Chevy Two( a South African adaption ). I must get some photos of the others.
Also own a 59 chevy and Dodge Monaco.

Gday Alastair, welcome to the forum.
The pedal car is awesome, great workmanship and detail, Cool as.
Your workmanship has also been put to good use on the coupe as well.
I've seen a couple of 2 door post versions made up over the years, but
your 'Sport Coupe' version is the best looking conversion I have seen done.
It just looks so right, its such a pity Holden didn't make them that way from new.
Great work, welcome aboard.
Im looking forward to seeing more of your stuff, and learning about Holdens in South Africa.

Cheers
Jeff
