Removing crossplys

I want to remove crossplys from the rim, is this easy to do or should I just take them to a tyre place? The crossplys have good tread so I was going to keep them.

They may have good tread but are they as hard as a rock? How old are they? I have crossplies on some rims which were on the sedan when I bought it. The problem with them was once deflated they still wouldn't compress completely, instead it looked like they still had air in them

If you really want you can still get crossplies, but most people will warn you off fitting them. Nankang still make 13" ones or did (as of 4 years ago anyway). My other toy runs crossplies and they are not like a radial to drive on, far from it. But I enjoy the experience

And to answer your question, best get a trye place to do it, unless you have the right tools its a shit of a job.
