Frenched Tailights

I frenched the tailights on the FE so heres some almost finished pics for you uters and vanners to check out!

I have made the cut out in the car body larger and with no centre brace so that the lights can be fitted from the inside-had to weld some nuts to body and flatten the old mounting points first!

The tailight body has also been altered to make it mount flat against the inside.The frenching was done by using 1/4" steel rod bent to shape of new opening then filling in sheetmetal to body.

In the second pic you can almost see the extra sheetmetal.

Looking good smithy shouldve got you over had to take the front end of the uteand put the scuttle panel on then put it back together again.

DR-now I have to figure out how to french the front ones and keep it subtle.

Any ideas?

Mimick the headlight surround in steel? Or Ed of the FC/FE Holden forum did his quite well. Burgundy FE wagon.

Ed used Jag peaks then welded them up

He did.

The cut and shut on his instrument panel is a awesome piece of work as well.

I forgot. Nice work there Mark, its the little things that make the build so much more interesting......................to me its a bit like a Wheres Wally book. :wink: I'll have to come down for a real life look.

DR I think you have the right idea, I'll do one headlight then post the result.

Oldnek thats what I'm after-the where's wally idea!-jeez something looks different here but I'll have to look a bit harder to figure it out.Yeah come down for a look nothin finished (read paint ready) but things happenin slowly!
