Popping Bootlid With Shaved Lock

Since i'm shaving all the locks and stuff on my EK.. i'm wondering how all you guys with shaved locks pop the boot lid..
So far ideas are..
Solenoid
Bonnet Cable
Duno anything else.
If it was solenoid itd just have to turn sideways like a key would.. and then it'd flick back to the original position when the boot closes..
Hmm..

Get on down to the wreckers Nick and have a look at some of the remote units for commondores/falcons.

I had a solenoid set up in a VG Valiant, set it up myself, not hard, just can't remember how I did it, was a long time ago.
Go buy a kit, the one I used had everything you would need, Trev

I was thinking about doing this as well.
Once I hit the panel shop I am shaving the boot look off.
Def going the solenoid route.

I see. I'll probably go the solenoid route then as it definately seems the easiest way.
Cheers for the quick responses guys.

Nick, bring your boot catch mechanism with you on Saturday if you can, I'll show you how i set up mine. Oh & drag that buggered hinge along too, I should be able to scratch one up to replace it.
Cheers, Rob.

Rob,
Now that i think about it.. i don't think there ever was a thing on there in the first place. I do have one off my HR though if that'd work.
Crap..
Not sure its the hinge either but theres somethin between the door and the hinge that is stopping the rear drivers door from closing. Will try and get it off and bring it along though and you can sus it out.
Is there anything you can't do

Hey Nick,
The only thing Rob can't do is stand around and procrastinate.
That Kustom sedan was one kool car in the day.
With the boot, why don't you go down to the wreckers and source out the cables from a late model commondoor or magna and get the gas struts as well. Voulla cable operated boot popper!!

Sunnyrob,
I got so excited about the solenoid boot opener - I went straight down to Jaycar and bought one. My problem is I cannot figure out how it all connects up. And more importantly, where did you place/fix the actual unit? It would be awesome if you are able to post up some instructions (and pics would be fantastic!).
Cheers,
Aaron.

Anyone else out there who can provide some tips with hooking up the solenoid??? I'd love to be able to hide the actual unit as well - so any suggestions as to where to fix the unit would be awesome.
Cheers,
Aaron.
