Hey there, just thought I would share some pics of my new daily driver. Its a 1975 TD Cortina wagon, 2ltr 4speed manual. I bought it as a genuine 1 owner car with 102,700k's from a car yard about 3 weeks ago.It seems we are not the only ones getting flodded with wagons, over in the Cortina camp every person who is coming out and showing their new car is a wagon. I plan to keep it stock and go with the old school look as I can't get enough of that at the moment. First I changed the grille to a aluminium one of a tc and added white walls with rear ones coming soon. Other than that I am getting a stereo fitted and lowering it as it has been raised all round .

One other problem you might notice is the steering wheel is shagged, I know Matty covered this a while ago but gave up finding it after an hour and a half looking for it and sending the man himself a pm. Any help with this wil be greatly appreciated as the Cortina forum so far has been no help.

It is in good nic, never been a fan though.
A mate had one with the 250 ci cross flow head, went like a cat on fire, but handled like a boat on the water .

I'm still looking for a TC GXL, mustard with a vinyl roof, but will have to settle for the scaled down version I bought a few weeks back...

I owned a 6 cylinder auto TD Cortina sedan about 18 years ago and fitted a single rail 4 speed and a 2V head off an XY Fairmont.
It had 2 inch lowered lovell springs with munro gas shocks, and 50 series eager tyres. It went like the clappers and drove like it was on rails.

The picture you have there, are they hubcaps ? I plan to lower it but not that far!

It's funny you mention saving money Dave, guess how much I paid for this ? Let's look at it another way, what would it be worth if it was a fb/ek ? 10k ? 15k ? according to sellers paying above 20k is fair game. But for the mighty Cortina, $950 !!! I can see both a hk and the hb in this car but I have never liked the idea of mixing &*#@ and holden parts except for the 9" diff . Strangly enough I have never seen Life on mars but I like the car in it .

Alot of people tell me that they or someone else had one of these but it was a 6cyl manual and it went like a rocket and they did burnouts everywhere, hence why finding one now is hard. Plus the way fuel is going the 4 is a better option. I took it away camping the other week and had a 6x5 caged trailer loaded with wood and all the normal gear in the car and it cruised along quite nicely, so it still got some get up and go and a good amount of torque. In saying that my mate used to own a 2ltr auto TE Cortina and it was painfully slow, the trans makes a H U G E difference.

Any ideas for the steeringwheel ? I saw Matty's painter Joe used a product called "nead it" is this the way to go ?

Throughly enjoying the feedback and people's ideas on what it should/could look like. I love this forum !

Need it is the way to go, just drill some holes diagonally into the rim so it keys into the rest of the wheel, let it dry and sand it back, easy , Trev .

mate at the end of the day it $950 better spent on the fb

Before you rush out and get some 'need it',
just check that the steering wheel is rock hard.
A softer steering wheel, one that you can push your thumb nail into,
will need a flexable filler.
'Need it' sets rock hard.
