Hi guys

I fly to Melbourne saturday morning to collect this.
Hey it aint Holden, and it aint exactly old but......

She'll do for now.
4.3 litre V6 + 5 speed. dropped spindles and notched chassis gets it down around 2". yankee import wheels. Guards have been professionally pumped and rolled about 20mm all round...

Staying at a mates place in Croydon ( he dont know that yet) on saturday night and driving back to Newy sunday..

I'm chasin a towbar for it.... Now here comes the holden content.. It has the same chassis as a Holden suburban. So ... if ya got one of those monstrosities kickin round ya yard ( maybe your living in one) with a towbar on it . let me know..
Can call anywhere along the Hume highway or sydney to collect and pay cash on the way home........If i make it

Hi Dudes
EK Wag........Ebay ??????.... Ya never know  . It depends on how it "Behaves".. if it needs constant "medical attention" and it "drinks" more than me... it might end up there..

EK Jay.. at least its a Chev.....Thats GM .. without the "H"

MM... FUEL PRICES

186 =3.150 litres or thereabouts. With an old prehistoric strommy( not the most efficient instrument in the carby world) feeding it , you are doing well to get 20MPG... especially if the drive train is the old 3 speed feeding a 3.55 or lower ratio diff and 13" wheels.
The Chev is a V6 4.3 Litre ( 260 cubes) fuel injected jobbie.
Dunno what to expect as far as fuel cosumption goes but the 5 speed and 15" wheels + high diff should mean the motor wont be working anywhere near as hard as the 186 at 100KPH.(3000 to 3500RPM ????).

I was talking to the owner of the ute the other day on his mobile while he was driving ( Oooooooo waaaaaaaaaa ya cant do that) I asked him what sort of revs the thing is doing at 100KPH ...he replied i am sitting on 120KPH .. tacho is saying just over 1800 RPM 8) Now either he is telling the truth... the tacho is faulty.. or the speedo is faulty... I would like to think he was telling the truth.

I will know more by the time i travel the full length of the Hume highway on the weekend.

I'll get back to ya on fuel consumption

Oh yeah.. I havent given up on the idea of getting another FB/EK ute/wagon or panno. I would like to catch up with the people from Koogee beach that i sold the green EK yoot with tailfins to  . I have a sneaking suspicion that the thing may be siitting in a garage somewhere unregistered. Maybe i could try asking the RTA if i pay some sort of fee i can track thier address and contact details down... worth a try i suppose....I use to keep carbon copies of reciepts i write out but have given up with the advent of ebay. I have deleted all "sold items" so i can track it that way.
Has anyone seen the green ute kicking around Sydney.?????
Might drop a post in the general section and see if anyone knows where its living now.

Meanwhile the search continues for a Chev towbar.. Hope to have it fitted in time for NSW all holden day swapmeet and display day.. its closing in fast.. Gunna tow one of my vintage caravans down there for overnight accomodation in a warm bed.

always wanted one of them, nearly bought a couple but then thought of the kool old cars i could buy with the same money :?
i had a V6 camaro a few years ago, admittedly alot more aerodynamic but it was cheaper to run than a corrolla we had at the same time  and would sit on 160kmh all day long only problems were at 100-110kmh 4th was a little high and 5th was a little low and hard to get parts for usually had to be brought in :(

Yeah RB
I hear what ya sayin about parts :?
If i am having trouble finding a towbar  how hard is it gunna be to buy an engine part..
This mob is pretty good..

I watched a couple of stepside utes in Vic go through ebay.
1 was a 350 on dual fuel. Other was a 454 on straight gas. Even on gas i figure they would be thirsty as they where running auto boxes.
Both stepside rather than styleside tubs. The step sides look good on old stuff like like F100 , dodge and chev utes up to the mid 50's but after that the cabs became "Boxy " and the stepsides just dont look right mounted up behind a "dice shaped" cab. IMHO
