How Low To Go?

Hi all.

Two massive, highly important questions...... :?: :?:

I am about to undertake the process of lowering my FB. But my big question is, how low? Are there any good sites with pictures of lowered FB's that will also tell me how low they are (eg what type of lowering kit is in it 2" or 4" etc etc etc) I needs to know.

Also, I am in the city of roundabouts (AKA Canberra) , I need to stop my old girl feeling like a boat thru these circles. What is the best way to stop this roll? Stiffer shocks? Stiffer springs? Heavy duty anti-sway bar?

Waiting for all advice.................

i've driven canberra roads :) just take the springs out you don't need suspension on canberra roads, 2" seems to be about run of the mill pay no attention to any of my cars they're minimum 4"

As Ratbox said, about 2" is the norm, if you want to look cool, go lower, but be prepared to shake your fillings out when you hit bumps.
Speaking of bumps, be sure to shave the bump stops which will give you a bit more travel before the suspension bottoms out.

Cheers guys!

How low does the car look with a 2" lowering kit in it? Just point me in the right direction for a photo.

Also, so stop the "roll" the corners, what is the best method?

Thanks much!

Thicker sway bar will stiffen up the front and if you can find an aftermarket rear sway bar kit for the rear somewhere or maybe from another model car at the wreckers/swap meets etc and modify to suit your car then that helps also.

I've just lowered my FB ( kingpin front end ) about 2 1/2 inches at front( heavy duty springs) and 2 inch at rear ( lowering blocks ) and thicker front sway bar and it helped a fair bit.I also found that I had to cut and shorten the front sway bar links about 2 1/2 inch as with standard links the bigger swaybar was rubbibg on the front outrigger.

my flat blue sedan which was very low about 4-6" allround standard sway bar on front and no sway bar on rear handeled extremely well, chased a guy in a commodore around down there i was going round corners like a drift car, he only got away cause he crossed a trafic island that i couldn't get up
by knocking a couple of inches out you should notice a difference, so try this first then move on from there stiffer shocks then sway bars

I've got 2" blocks and flipped leaf in the rear and no idea of the front as the springs came with it all. Mines bouncy and a bit harsh on big bumps, but I like the look more than the ride

Drop Spindles and approx 1.5" lower springs in the front, and 2" blocks in the rear with standard springs.

And again with a bootload:
