Started this one over the Easter break last year, original plan was a real quick rebuild for a fun car but as usual it escalated into far more than the original plan :?
What I started with -
Image
It was originally gonna be a real quick respray - at one stage I wasnt even going to paint the door jambs - but you all know how it works, where do you stop? Chassis came out and was blasted, all the rubbers and tie rod ends , etc were replaced , motor given a Dulux overhaul
Image
We painted it two weeks ago - laced the roof thanks to Devilrod`s lacing advice :D First step is to lay down a base coat , we used silver metallic
Image
Then we masked up the panels to be laced
Image
and laid the lace over

Next we blew 2 coats of candy through the lace and ended up with this - the bloke in the pic is my mate Damo who is the bloke on the spraygun.

And then we threw the topcoats on and voila!

The next day we painted the rest of the car
Image
and thats basically how it looks now - I have put the side windows back in it and got the door buttons working and am in the process of painting all the side trims and the bumpers etc silver.
Plan is for a lowrider style rig- have 100 spoke reversed wire wheels with skinny whitewalls , leopard skin door trims with angel hair dash and headtrim and purple carpet - lotsa people wont like it but the whole idea is to have a bit of fun in it - its a party car.

You need to be wearing TWO pairs of sunnies when its in direct sunlight  was thinking of either flames or panel painting it - the missus doesnt like scallops - she reckons its going to be that loud that shes not going to get in it anyway

Cool!!! Even the lace is the same as mine!!  Glad it worked, looks the goods.

I'd do panel paint, heavy on the edges fading into nothing in the centres of the panel. In the candy if you're feeling bold.

Can't wait to see it fininshed, party car indeed. 8)
