hey all

im finding it difficult to locate some 13" portawalls.. does anyone know where i can get them??

also, i was thinking i may upgrade to a 14".. but unsure what rims would actually fit... has HR disc front and EK drums rear (I think) lol...

i can get a set of the skinny white wall tyres for $350, but I do prefer the wider white wall!

any help appreciated 8)

Hey Bex,
Try John's Rod an Custom in Vic for the portawalls. I just got a set of 14'' for mine and they are great. HK T G rims are 14'and should bolt staight up, but I don't know about the disc front as I have them on my standard front end. Some of the southern boys will have alot more knoledge on this as,Most of us canetoads run stock. The last set of 13'portawalls I got were out of USA and they're totally different to the R&C ones. They are the soft rubber ones where as the R&C ones were hard rubber.

thanks theo.

was just speaking to a guy from Bribie Island, he can get the portawalls in my size but its a 2 month wait from america!!!!!

can get the actual tyres for me too, skinny walls $120 each and thick walls @ $240 each.

OR i can get a guy down here that will grind/paint them into the sidewall (like i currently already have) for $80 a set of 4. i may just go with them but from what i can see they don't really do much good for the sidewall

Bex, My tyre guy, has Mastercraft thin whitewalls in 185/75/13 and they are around $110 each or Kumho 185/70/13 for $95 each. I like the Kumho's and I run mastercraft as well. The ground on whitewall I would stay away from(insurance purposes) If you can wait the two months thats the go or have a look at evilbay USA and have them air mailed. Still very cost effective. Tyres and Brakes well worth spending the money on.

Yep as Thropzed said Johns Rod and Custom, Chopper has been playing around with the compound to try and stop them from disintgrating. Antique Tyres in Vic also sell them I think.

But for permanancy the extra bucks for the real deal is always going to be the ideal choice. Just depends on how much you want to spend....

yeh i think (for now anyway) i will stick with the portawalls. if they fly off at 60mph then it will be a lesson learnt

i will down the track get the proper ones, like i said the ones ground into the sidewall are pretty crappy, they weaken the sidewall and tyre always looks flat... well thats whats happening to mine right now. they do look good tho!

spoke to Johns Rods and they don't do them in a 13" but recommended I contact antique tyres, which i did and just ordered a set in my size 8)

they will be here tomorrow and they will be fitted saturday! the EK may be a little easier to drive now :P
