Hey everyone,
I have been watching this forum for quite a while, only rego'd a couple of weeks back. I just bought this EK Holden off Mike (who is on this forum). Im a 16yr old and have been saving all my life for a car, and now I finally have this one.

I got my new old EK this morning,
I couldn't sleep last night which was painful but after saving for a car since yr4 of course I was going to be too excited.

So for $5000 I got what you see below.
He included a crap load of trim and other spare parts pulled off wrecks etc.
I have a dual stomberg manifold
-3 carbys
-new waterpump
-new engine rubbers
-un-rusted fuel tank
-door rubbers
-the chrome thing the windshield goes into
-all door trim etc

and heaps of other crap I havent gone through yet,
so this morning I got it at about 8am and was finished washing it etc at about 10.

First thing I will be doing is getting it properly roadworthy,
which means black steel rims with whitewalls,
while I do that it will get lowered so it isnt all over the road (as much),
get the brakes checked,
and eventually change the kingpin in the RHF.

So here are some pics, will put some designs up later.







Well now I know not to go revving grey motors on the driveway (thank god dad isnt home )

Bonny seems to love the car (lots off different smells)

Let the fun begin hey J..... you have some work to do, but its fun and EK's are heaps better than FB's

Looks like a factory auto, which means plenty of choices if the need to upgrade should arise.

One important thing to remember, to save yourslf money and time. Before you even turn a spanner on the car decide on the look you want and plan what order you will do things. But make sure you stick to it. Cars don't look to good when you change style half way through a build and it will cost more to redo things.

Nice touch by the way, but I would have gone for a more retro styled pinup

my sis bought it for me so i figured i should
my mate's gf works in a kustom kulture kinda place so shes gonna get me some cool lucky 13 stickers etc, mexican blankets and all this other cool stuff,

so yea the car will be "kustom" styled, not street machine or classic. Im talkn spats, scraping on the ground, steel rims with wide whites and bullet nuts, kustom grill, mexican blankets and a good sound system haha

2 of my fondest memories a 16 yr old....picking up my first car/getting my license - remember it like it was yesterday ...no wonder you didnt get much sleep last night

I can help with the selection of a GOOD sound system and the install, as I have completed this on my car, and have found areas which I will change. A for the wide whites, pm SPECIAL K/ Adam Eldringham, he just bought some for his original EK Hydro and they look the biz. They were not cheap, but meh, they look good
Personally, with steelies and bullets, I would stick to thin whites, but thats a personal preference

You have done well with your first car. I'm sure you will have a ball with it.
Like DR said make up your mind what your want with the car and stick to it. You will save heaps.

All I originally wanted was a stock FB, then you start looking and reading and before you know it your out of pocket 30+k

My first car was an FJ holden, and I owned it for years. When I sold it I took the personalised Q plates of it and I plan to register my new FB/EK/CHEV/COMMODORE/?/?/?/?/?/? with them.

Hi J - I can enjoy your passion at a very young age - I was 17 when I got mine.
You've virtually got a clean sheet of paper here - your build can be anything ou want - I ask you to keep us posted on your thoughts and progress - betwenn all members on this forum, you have access to an almost unlimited amount of knowledge and experience - you don't have to accept it, but we would like to think it may "assist" you with decisions...................

Probably where you're at now, is in a position where preservation would be high on the agenda.............. both your lovely EK and yourself.............

Something tells me you don't have a lot of K's under your belt - experience wise.................?

Our old buses are not considered "easy" to learn to drive in - but be comforted in the knowledge that your car will teach you many, many things other young chaps will unfortunately have to "learn" through errors and prangs..................
When you "master" learning to drive one of these, you will be a very "worldly wise" driver amongst those you are forced to share the road with.

I suppose I am being a bit of a "wet blanket" here, but I would probably suggest you consider bringing the car up to a safe condition before we look at Kustom and mods - unless of course, these can be achieved in the process................

Very happy to have you on board "J" - throw anything up on the forum and please "J", don't be afraid to ask - others will benefit from any quiestion you may feel embarassed to ask........................

J, I cannot agree more with Rosco. These cars are not something you want to prang, as whatever you hit will be completely snaffled and it will be a bitch to fix the damage to your car Have fun learning to drive in the EK, I had great fun learning to drive in my FB. Make sure it's all safe as well, don't worry about whether the mods are 'legal' per say, just safe to you and others

well yesterday arvo my mate and I went cruising through freo,
cops were doing car checks and it passed

New tyres next week, and some lowering so it isnt all over the road.
Will post some pics when it happens.

i will take care of it, its not a hoons car so i wont treat it like one. The 138 makes a nice grumble but its not fast so it will just be a cruiser

J sounds like you have it all sussed... going fast doesn't always attract the right kind of attention.

Low and slow is the way to go
