REBECCA-1960 FB SPECIAL SEDAN

G'Day fellow Holden drivers.
Just thought I'd introduce myself and Rebecca.
My name is Gary and I am the 3rd generation owner of my one family FB.
Currently living in Northern NSW.
Bought new by my late grandmother "Rebecca" in 1960 my 9 year old daughter and 2 year old son are the 4th generation to ride in this wonderful old girl.
Rebecca is Grecian White with an Apache Red flash.
Interior is Mephisto and Chianti Red.
Original Rego : CGU-638
Purchased early 1961 from "John. A. Gilbert" Holden, Camperdown NSW
Rebecca underwent a 3 year restoration in 1998 and was back on the road in July 2001.
The paint work has been redone but all upholstery is original.
She runs like a dream and starts first click every time.

Rebecca looks a treat, and I'm sure your late grandmother
would be justifyably proud to see her car continue to be loved.

Has the FB been restored or is it in original condition?
Wish my family kept all of our cars!
My Grandmother got her lisence when she was 65
and drove a Citreon 1200 sport. It was handed down to my brother
until he got squashed goin round a round-a-bout by some kid driving
his mum's fourbie.
Anyway Ask questions and we all like pictures.

Hi Gary,
welcome to the forum - you must be very proud of your vehicle - and a full history.
I expect between now and Yamba, you will be as eager to meet up with the group and their wonderful rides.

Don't be afraid to ask anything about either your vehicle or the forum.

There is a humungous amount of knowledge and experience here and we are very proud to state that it is ever willing to help.

I would expect you hold all relevant documentation of your vehicle from day one...............?

I appreciate that Byron is quite some distance from most members in NSW but feel very confident you will make contacts as people introduce themselves................

Cheers Theo. Rebecca was is tact until 1998 October when I took her off the road. The rust had set in badly due to being kept at Rose Bay in Sydney near the ocean. After 3 years of plugging away bit by bit and much thanks to Rare Spares it was re-registered in July 01. I had to find and buy an old FB bush basher shell from a wrecker in Tumit, transport it to Sydney where I lived at the time and cut panels out and replace many.
At that time I reconditioned the engine and gearbox and rebuilt it. The only difference was that at that time I couldn't find mats so I went for red plush carpet.
I started a business up north called Byron Retro Cars and started doing weddings. I had to get my transport drivers accreditation. People seem to like getting married and travelling in an old aussie icon.
By the way, this was the ONLY car that my grandmother ever owned.
My grandfather never got his license. He was the back seat driver. He used to reverse it out of the garage and put it back every night. He would cover it with blankets. The funny man would polish the car every Saturday with Kitten number 1. So you can imagine that the duco was the strongest part of the car.

tell us more about you business, do you offer other cars, do you have a website for the wedding cars...

when ever i get up tp byron, (at least once a year... surfing & spleder in the grass)... i'll always make the trip up to bangalow, its beautiful up there, love the antique shops & GOOD cafe's...

do you surf... you should start, as you have some of the best surf spots in the world up i that area...
