insurance?

Can anyone recommend a car insurance company for vintage cars? AAMI will only cover my EK for $2500! They obviously don't recognise its true value!

Hi batgirl.
I can highly recommend Shannons.
I've been with them for years, never any arguments about the value of old cars. Sometimes they my want to actually see the car, but I think because they specialise in older cars & most of the guys that work there are car nuts, they are worth a try.

I totally agree with the good Dr.
I've been with Shannons for about 10years and have never had a problem.
I had a HT monaro in fantastic nic that got rear ended - I could pick my preferred repairer, quote to Shannons, they chased the other guys insurance company, all was fixed, $5k+ later, no probs. with no change to my insurance history
A month after it was on the road, it got tboned. Same as above, no probs again. Needless to say i thought the car may have been cursed so sold it after that, the EK (touch wood) is accident free, and all is good.
I also hear good things about Vigil.

The problem with Vigil is that it won't insure a car that isn't garaged and my EK lives on the street (a sad story I know)... Is Shannons the same?

Hey Batgirl,
I'd just give Shannons a ring and see what they say - no harm done in asking. I'm with Shannons and have had no problems. It may help if you had some additional anti-theft stuff like a gear lever lock, kill switch, alarm etc

I recommend Shannons too, I have been with them for about 10 years. I can alos recommend their House and Contents as well. So much cheaper! like $20 a month. We've got 3 cars and the house with them now.

Holy insurance companies batgirl!
Yes, I too can thoroughly recommend Shannons. We have all 5 cars insured with them (including the VX SS Commodore!), and they are always very helpful, even when I've made a claim when a kangaroo played chicken with me. I've also found their prices to be competitive.
As a bonus, they always support our car club events, so we should also support them.
