Automatic Floor Shifters

Wondering what sort of floor shifters can be used running a trimatic and keeping the bench seat. Mine has a commodore one at the moment (complete with cut down console!) but it looks really out of place. Was thinking a smaller chrome type unit would look neater. What is anybody else with an auto using or seen used?

i habe a b&m mega shifter in my torana, its good because it uses a cable so can be located where it best suits your seat etc ... however its probably a bit more wild looking then you might want ?

I am in the same boat as Dave. I have a cut down Gemini plastic center console around the shifter for my 6cyl powerglide and want to replace it with a B&M or Hurst unit. I see many shifters advertised for 3 and 4 speed gear boxes on ebay but i dont know if I can use them on my car with a different cable. any ideas?

Not that its in my car yet but has been test fitted and shouldn't be a problem with the bench but i may have to notch a slight ammount out of the seat but I'm putting in a 16" Lokar Shifter (pricey i know but they look so cool) to suit a TH700. good thing is there not as big as a Hurst or B&M

Now these are Linkage setups they do do cable opearated shifters but I believe they are only for the 350/400/700/4L60E Range.
Now this might be another shifter to look into if it suits you & your gearbox. (
http://www.lokar.com) these can be order through Armadale Auto Parts as thats where i got mine.
I know they have some to suit Powerglides (Aust)mod so you also can investigate this as an option.

I personally prefer column but when a customer wants a floor mounted unit , or there is no other option I prefer to use an LC Torana floor shifter
It is just a simple tubular stick that operates by pulling it sideways and back to change gears
Any type of top can be put on it.
Most people that look at them in a car believe it is a manual

Hey dave im a fan of the b&m style shifters,Theres a few different sorts to choose from, gotta find one to suit your car.You only have to drill a small hole in the floor. You can put them where you want within reason to allow room if you run a bench seat.I went for the ol quicksilver got that nostalgia look i think.

have a look at a gemini auto shifter, i had one in my ek wagon and it works sweet, and its a self contained unit so you don't need a console to have everything stay in place!
