here is a thread about dynamat.
it doesnt really stop heat, it stops noise due to vibration of panels but isnt a sound absorber as such.

previously panels would go "tink" and sound tinny. now they go "thud" and sound like a heavy euro car.

there is no drumming at highway speed, however heat from the motor still can be felt through the floor.. not sure of all V8 conversions have this prob?? especially as my pipes are run down by the frame.

Ive used the traditional jute and felt underlays for sound absorption.

I saw Dynamat at a show and they have awesome new sound/heat deadening products, but Im not ripping up my carpet to put it in.

PS the car audio guys use multiple layers but IMHO they're wasting their time and money.

great looking FE/FC wagon - just a thought on dynamat.........
I sourced some similar stuff at my paint supplier and took some time to get back up off the floor.............

I only have one concern when using anything "stuck" to panels, and that is to ensure the surface is adequately sealed.
I have spent the past few years getting "rid" of mine - or more to the point, getting under it to see what lays beneath.......... I found that areas which were very well prepared and coated were fine - others, where there was either a thin coat of "factory" black were starting to get into a bit of trouble.

My entire interior is now well and truly protected from bare shiny steel through a multi product process to a very substantial epoxy coating........ I won't ever apply deadener to bare steel again...........

Will endeavor to get a product sheet on dynamat and read the specs.

Ed that is a nice looking wagon and thanks for the thread just one thought with all the electrics nicly hidden in the glove box where will you keep your gloves

Hey rosco, the panels were blasted then POR 15'd prior to sticking on the dynamat.

I have modified the seat to incorporate a storage compartment so the gloves are nice and safely tucked away.

the ashtray remains standard lol. although it allows access to my dash board retaining clips.
