Has anyone had experiences or able to offer advice with repairing/restoring door hinges. The spring steel plate on the hinge which hold the doors in the open positions have worn away. :?:

G`day Paul, thats gotta be some kind of a record - joined in August `04 and made your first post in Jan `08 !!!!!!!!

To answer your question, I havent repaired any , normally just pull one out of a wreck but I suppose you cant do that forever :?
Those plates are riveted to the hinge from memory- maybe it could be removed and a new one made ?

Swingin in the breeze.

Seems that way Blacky, although I did delete one which failed to get a reply a long time ago. Thanks 4 the advice. I would have thought that there were plenty of others with the same grief. Any idea on which other models may have used the same hinge?.

It is a common problem, the hinges are unique to FB/EK to the best of my knowledge. The easy option is get one off a wreck , the other way would be to make up a new one. This could be a job for someone on here who is a boily or sheetmetal worker - anybody prepared to take this on ?
If someone could make them up there would definately be a market for them, I get requests for them all the time when people come around looking for parts.

Hi Paul,

As Blacky says a common problem and probably the best source would be off a wreck.

One of the members in the NSW Club who sells a lot of stuff at swap meets mentioned that a bloke had bought all his broken drivers? door hinges and that he was able to repair them. I could chase this up but it won't be till 2nd week of Feb until our Club meeting start again for 2008.

Where are you located?

regards
Stewart

I Just fitted rares "universal" pin and bush kit the fit was crap and the door is not overly stiff but enogh that it makes the springs obsolet so if you are into half assed shite there is an option

Thank you all 4 your posts. I'm a Southerner - Melbourne East and will be going to the Berwick swap meet early Feb so will add hinges to the list.
Cheers.
