Hey all.Just doing a few mods to the old girls and was thinking of changing my brake booster.Mainly for cosmetic reasons.I am limited for real estate and must be duel circuit because a v8 is fitted.I understand my options would be limited but any ideas would be great.

Looks beautifull to me as is,if its just for cosmetic reasons why not relocate the existing booster out of sight some where?

Have you thought about a "white van" booster setup that is designed to fit under the dash? a fair bit of fabrication to get it to work I guess.
Or fit up a dual circuit master to the firewall and run a remote booster under the guard or in the boot.

Very neat engine bay Captain, very very neat.
For my EK/Chev setup, I found the bonnet springs foul most boosters badly. I originally intended to run the booster about where yours is with a gusseted bracket and extended pushrod. This has been done on a number of factory cars (including Escort from memory). The engineer wasn't too keen though. I ended up with a Gemini booster (TE from memory) mounted to the firewall. Butchered the original bracket to suit. Bolts straight up to an XB F**d dual-circuit master - can even run the brake failure warning light if you wish. The Gemini boosters had different length pushrods, so you can play around a bit (with a few trips to the wreckers) to get the right pre-load. I'm running a TH350 box, so don't need the clutch pedal. I pulled the pedal-box out, removed the common spindle all the pedals hang off, and removed the clutch pedal. I could then space the brake pedal over (simple steel tube spacer) so that the pushrod lined up with the boosters new location on the firewall (clears the bonnet hinges). Shortened the spindle and cut a new circlip groove. still have to run my brake lines, but ample room (have dummied them up, looks OK). No photos unfortunately.

Thanks for the advise guys.I was leaning towards a smaller booster mounted on the firewall but wasnt sure what one to use. This should make it look a bit better and give me some extra room to mount new toys and bigger pipes.

I used a Gemini booster on mine too, but I mounted it where the brake pedal pushrod sits as per standard and modified the bonnet hinge to fit around the booster.
I couldnt use the Frod master cylinder though because the brake pipes exited on the drivers side and there wasnt room for them , so I made an adapter up to fit a commodore master cylinder onto the Gemini booster.
If you have a look here

you can see what I mean.

What Rat says is best, flush mount the master cylinder to the firewall and use a remote booster. It will give more room to remove your "rocket" covers and will also look visually best.
I had a thread showing the proposed system im using in my sedan, its 4 wheel disc and uses twin remotes , vacuum tank and pump.
If your hard stuck on using a booster close to the pedal , there was a guy on ebay selling a fabrication kit which mounted the booster facing West ( master) and East pedal assembly. Basically the guts sat above the gearbox hump. He was listing them at $500.

Some good ideas there indeed lads,Thanks.Gemi boosters look pritty good and easy to fit. However a hq master straight to the firewall would suit me even better. What sort of booster are we talking.vh40?

Yes mate VH40s , this is the pic for the sedan set-up. Pump was used due to vacuum loss in the block and the supercharger.
The panelvan will be getting an LX master clyinder and using a single remote booster with HQ calipers up front , drums on rear. Alot simpler

if you want boosted front and rear you would need 2 boosters on my ute i had boosted front non boosted rear but used drum brake rear wheel cylinders i thought they were good brakes
have they been changed ekv8ute? what do you think?

Using 4 wheel disc - so I put 1 booster per circuit.
Front booster for front brake circuit , Rear booster for rear brake circuit. Just went on logic and presumed it would be the safest set-up.

Ok thanks, running drum rear so one booster should be fine.
