Hello all, I've just recently purchased this Ek. Looks like the previous owner got bored with it; it's all in bits and has surface rust inside and out.
Ive been reading all the forums on this site for the past couple of months and they have been very inspirational.
I'm giving myself 12 months to get it on the road, (that makes it August 2008) I'll have to refer back to this post to remined me.
not sure how to do a lot of things but hope to learn along the way.
There’s no rust underneath and only some small holes in the bottom of the firewall down near the sills. RH sill is solid LH sill has a hole that I can put my finger in but the rest is solid. Guess the fist step is off to the sandblaster.

Finally something to fill the shed.
Did it come with any running gear?
It looks to be fairly complete,
that will save you plenty of time & money.
What style do you plan to do with it,
Restored, Hotty or Cruiser?

So what are your plans for it? Best to have a clear picture before you start, I think we covered the reasons why in one of mattymartin's posts on his plans for his wagon. Work it all out before starting, you won't regret it in the long run.

First thing to do Tim is fix that avatar Is the original colour pyramid coral? Pic of rear door has the optional pull-to-door handles. Have fun 'unpacking' all those aprts inside - you'll never know what you might find!

Ahh nothing better than the enthusiam that a fresh project creates.

A good mate of mine once said "you cant hurry love" and has still not started his ek project, that he purchased three years ago.

So get cracking boy, they look good in the garage, but the look better on the road. I want to see you at yamba.

I fear that your wallet may be soon making 'creaking' noises every time you open it and eventually break in two.

Hey thanks for the positive feedback,
The car has come with parts but it's not complete so there's plenty of searching to be done,
It came with a 186s and a trimatic, that I plan to run in it.
Basically I want it to look stock, lowered slightly, a light blue colour (not sure witch one yet) with red and white interior, white steering column and wheel, with column shift. Not 100% sure what wheels to run yet, definitely not those mags in the car, maybe two sets one steel rims caps and trim and maybe steel no caps or trim with contrast colour.
The original colour is Egyptian tan I believe.
I hope my 12 months time frame can be achieved, does that fit in with Yamba, couldn't find anything on the forum about the date.
Finally, I guess the wallet will get a workout all right.
Do you think maybe I should post a monthly running total? Maybe not might scare the hell out of me. Cheers Tim

Oh, and the Nationals are the same time every year = Queens Birthday Long Weekend in June. We now expect to see you there "with" this EK.

as DR said check my post in (my fb ek) "matty martins project plan", (in his head)...on my plans & you'll see what i was thinking of doing as well as time frame & budget... but read on for the reply's & word of other who have been there & done it already...

words of advice...

use the forum, as it will save you time & money... Q&A is for free.

they, the forum members have already saved me $$$$ & time, so i dont make the same mistakes they have learnt in their past projects...
