Interior light

Ok here's a question for all that know.

I took the interior light out of my 2nd owner parts car and the interior light cover had a V shaped spring inside the cover forcing the edges out to keep it to the oval type shape of the light body.

Is this a standard thing or not?????????????

mate, ive had a few early holdens over the past few years and have never seen one with a clip. I can say, however, that the interior lights, with the heat of the sun, also off oversized globes do soften up and begin to loose shape causing them to fall out, thus many cars have these missing. I would like to see a photo of this spring, but in my opinion, it sounds like a repair from the above problem, so not therefore not factory.

Sounds like a good idea though, cause my after market new one seemed to fall off all the time and i ended up putting some tape on the edges of an old one and fitted that in instead.

Mal,

I have 5 of these interior light covers and none have the spring clip as shown.

It looks like it may be a clip from a down light or something similar.

Good Idea !

Yep, I would guess that the spring was fitted by a frustrated owner to 'spread' the lens to stop it from falling out when driving.
