Ute & Wagon tailgates

Post by oz_ek »

Here we have some pics of the inner reinforcing plate for the hinges on a FB/EK ute tailgate, anyone know if the wagon tailgate uses the some plate?

I started with nothing and still have most of it left.

Hi OZ I had a look this morning at one of the roached Station Wagon tailgates that I have and have to tell you they are totally different.

The reinforcing plate in the Wagon (from what I can see) goes all the way from the hinge at the bottom up past where the side spring loaded latches come through it even seems to have a formed piece for the rod to go through (I think) if I get time today I will cut the skin off so I can get a photo.

I don’t think it has the horizontal strengthening bar either.

By the way I believe that tailgate you have is FC as it has 4 screw holes where the side latch plate goes and FB EK has only 2.

Thanks for the info!....Wagon appears to be very different to the ute, now thinking FE / FC wagon might be similar to the ute?

I think you are correct Phil. The FE wagon evolved from the van as far s I can see. it was the first wagon that gmh produced.
