Hi all,
Does anyone know what where this yellow wire behind the dash cluster is suppose to be connected to? One end of the wire is mounted directly to the dash (like an earth I'm guessing). Any help would be greatly appreciated.

its not standard. i notice tape on various wires there, so tough to see whats missing a wire. could it be for a turn signal lamp?

If one end is screwed directly to the chassis then I guess itโs been retrofitted because of earth problems on the dash panel itself ? By the look of the spade connector they would have had a short tail on the dash that would plug into it ???

Wiring diagram says the yellow wire is for the brake lights. It goes to the stop lamp switch on the pedal box. The other wire to the stop lamp switch is orange.
But if one end's connected to the body, then this wire is a well-made short circuit.
There's another yellow wire, which should connect from the indicator switch (yellow wire) to the "L" terminal of the flasher can.

In all honesty this post is impossible to answer. This was quite likely an add on to some long past bit of kit. Presumably something that drew a few amps, but knowing what happens, it was also probably the only wire to hand when something was added. Great that everyone is having a go, but really just chasing rainbows.

Agree.
Turn ignition off. Use test light and see if it is powered.
Turn ignition on, see if it is powered.
If the answer to these is yes, it is a fire waiting to happen. Disconnect, or at least wrap in electrical tape.
Cheers,
