G'day all,

I thought id finally bother to post some pictures of the ute for you all to see, its finally back from the panel beater, they did a good job, they did the sills (inner and outer) replaced a little bit of rust just above the sill in the panel above on the rear, also they had to plate some of the floor, and amazingly they were happy to fix that channel underneath the dash, at the bottom of the windscreen (if someone wants to tell me what to actually call it that would be great).

The chassis is still rusted to no end but it seems the handle, although i will get a new one fabricated soon.

Its currently running a 202 red motor, with a trimatic (shifter on the floor), and a torana diff. Hoping to get extractors fitted soon along with a long list of other things to do.

Nice one Alex, sounds like you've got yourself a good panel beater who's willing and able to take on the older jobs, Trev 8) .

not quite trev, the chassis rusted out, i need to get a new one(s) fabricated and welded in. Also gotta finish the Dynamatting to keep the noise out of the cabin, and also discretely hide a sound system. I might make up a new board for the tray, something that actually looks good, also get a new tarp... lots of little things, this list has more turned into a list so that i dont forget.

Also, what do people think about the flames? I personally like them and might get them repainted when i get the rest done, just wondering what others think, also i get rid of the matt paint and in with the gloss

Alex,

Mate, what are you calling the "Chassis" the front sub frame? or box framing under the car floor pan?

Flames? If you like 'em that's all that matters!
I think there OK, but I wouldn't put on my car. But I'll look at them on yours. :D

the frame that runs around the car is what im calling the chassis, just infront of the rear wheels and just behind the front wheels where the bars sort of go across the car, make sense at all? confused the hell out of me and i wrote it, ill try to post some photos tomorrow

Sounds like the "Y" frames on the sub frame up front and the channel sections at the diff area.

The Y frames come away with the sub frame from the firewall in one piece. Easy enough to replace. You just have to find a good one.

Doesn't look like he is so willing after all. Nothing a mig and some panel steel can't fix... 'Cept the rails I'd use repro bits or similar gauge steel folded up to match.

Not easy to fix BUT very repairable if you have the tools and patience (the skill part will come with practice!) and gaurentee you redo some of the first bits, I know we did.....
