I bought home an underdash parcel shelf today. Its got a brushed aluminium front and is painted black on both sides. Is there supposed to be a piece of vinyl on the top? If so, is it glued on?

I think they originally had headlining vinyl Brett but I’ve used left over seat trim previously, but yes vinyl.

Thanks very much Clay. I've got some white seat vinyl and also headlining material with stars. I think the seat stuff may be the go. Presumably just on the top surface?

Yes. Satin black paint for the strap up to the under dash I think, or clinker grey would be the go to match the dash.

Ive used a thin sheet of rubber Matt on mine to help prevent things sliding about and reduce some rattles.
Installing them is the fun part and getting them level and getting through the firewall liner

Something to look forward to then. I just installed 2 pairs of cupboard doors in the laundry and 100 percent of the 4 handles are a different height from the bottom edge
