Thought I would revise the post to add more detailed specs on the car guys. The car is all engineered and registered for NSW, that said we are fine tuning the rear end to get the tyres sitting right before I start driving it around.
Specs -
Ek Special Sedan
Originally:
Body - Alamo Beige
Roof - Snowcrest White
Hydramatic
Engine -
Small Block 350 Chev stroked 383
Aluminum Heads
SRP blower Pistons
Comp Cam
Weiand 6-71 supercharger
Twin 600 boost reference Holley Carbs
Engine dynoed in at 597hp at Hercules Motors Campsie, Ned believes if I dropped the cam 2 sizes smaller the engine should produce around the 700 - 750hp mark ...... will look into this at the next rebuild. The dyno is worth doing if anyone is considering it, I gained an extra 100hps from when the engine first hooked up to when I left from Neds tuning. Money was well worth the Hps gained.
Driveline -
Modified Turbo 350 trans manualised
3000 stall converter
Shortened 9inch Diff with 2 link
3.75 ratio with 31 spline
Steering -
Rod Hadfield front mounted rack-n-pinion
LX Torana collaspable column
Braking -
Front - HZ front stubs with HZ disc and callipers.
Rear - VR Disc and callipers
Master Cylinder - HZ Dual Circuit
Booster - Twin remote VH40s with a vacuum pump and vacuum resevior.
Ignition -
MSD 6BDM - boost retard
MSD Pro Billet Small diameter Distributor
Wheels -
Mini tubbed - rear guards pumped 3/4 inch to allow 8 3/4 wheels
Front Convo Pros 15 x 4inch
Rear Convo Pros 15 x 8 3/4inch
Others -
Custom radiator with twin thermos mounted engine bay side.
Custom 120 litre tank chassis rail to chassis rail
Engine plate which mounts to the front sides of the engine bay.
Someone say cooling problems in an EK Sedan ???
Wheels, ride height, bit of paint and a little bit of wiring left and it will be driving round again.

Looks like you've relieved yourself of some cash there!
Tell us the plans for the paint and wheels etc.

Hey smooth , mate love the blue fb !! It looks great and the driveline that was in it would have given stock 8s a run for their money considering the weight of the fb/eks !! Love the panel van site too btw nice work !! Still need to sign-up ( been away for a little ).
Never mention cash spent on cars round the missus hahahaha car could easily become a deceased estate
Paint wise I need to redo the bonnet still , fix up the side-sills ( few bubbles forming ) and just tidy up a few nicks and scratches.
Wheels im looking at possibly 17inch rims, depends if I can get some customs made up to 4 or 5 inch wide for the front , and 9inch on the rears ( has mini tubs on the back ).
Still some fine tuning left ,brakes still could be a problem with vaccuum and I have a feeling their could be starvation for the holleys. I got a custom tank done by Streetneats mate up in Brissie with return line fittings. So if its required , will put a by-pass regulator in and keep the fuel cycling round.

Looking good, radiator is huge is it custom fab or one of those aussie desert cooler types off the shelf ?
Just on the radiator as it's mounted very forward what are you doing with bonnet latch fitment and closing/locking ?

LOOKIN DAMN GOOD!
Got to ask a couple of questions,
1/What size motor?
2/Was this car at Hurricane headers liverpool about 6 months ago?
3/Does the exhaust go down between the rails?
4/Yeah bonnet catch what are you doing with that?

Cheers guys for the feedback,
Brake wise it still might change .... need the wiring done to run the car vs vacuum. Looking at potentially a vacuum pump from the states or a re-fabricated bonnet hinge ( have one in parts atm trying to adapt gas struts to it ) and use a 7inch double diaphram universal type off the original brake output from the pedal. Also seen the guy on Ebay with the 90 degreee mount under the dash which could be an option. Will wait for wiring and test it all out.
Common Rat ............. red goes faster mate !!!!
As for the garter hahaha I managed to catch that at my fiance'es little sister's wedding .... couldnt think of a better spot for it !!!
I cant express the graditude enough for the work that has been done to this car by Gino, his skill, dedication and need for perfection is second to none !

look under (and sticking through

) the bonnett i don't think you need red paint
i've always been told red is faster but i've just had an aversion to it
if i can think who it was there was someone that will do skinny and varied offsets on big wheels

Mr Mephious,
Because Im building a V8 ek , (I dont want to be a killjoy or even want to spoil your day) but I am still scratching my head in regard to your car being road registered.
The NSW RTA has strict guidlines for engine replacements and from my calculations the biggest supercharged or turbo engine for the EK is a maximum of 250 cubic inch. Normally aspirated 327 cubic inch. Calculations are tare weight 1120kg x .224(turbo or supercharged) x .294 (Normally aspirated)
Can you tell me if im missing something here cause I would love to know how its registered.
Also the dual cct brakes were mandatory for me as well.
If your engineer has passed all these mods could you pass on his number.
I love your car and the blower suits it but I would'nt drive it if its illegal.
Regards Greg

Hmmm not sure EK283 the engineer says its all good and on track - the braking does still need to be addressed. Looked at everything also from front mounted bonnet pivot , to VL 1inch bore master/booster ( with the moree bracket that didnt work ), even tried a reverse mount booster under dash , below floor (rod style but chassis stopped that) and now its looking like twin remotes with in-line vacuum pump,...... its been a thorn since the beginning hence why that old one was stuck on just to drive it off/on trailer etc.
Technically my job is an electrician/telecommunications tech, so car electrics are more my thing. Technical mechanical aspect and engineering is why its in a shop so the legalities and engineer aspects are addressed accordingly hahahaha. And im more then happy to pay for such works because its beyond my scope. I remember reading thru the light vechile modification manual ( its like 400pages ) and thats when I knew it was outside my boundaries !!! Leaving it to the experts
The car has an engine plate on the front of the block which welds to the front cross member , also have a 2 bar link set-up on the rear with an additional cross member at the back to hold the chassis and diff in place, and additional strengthening in the chassis.
The build follows very close to that of the EJ Holden panelvan in the June 2006 Street Machines Magazine.
