If you want one as a collectible, no drama. If you want one to use a fair bit, you are probably better off going to Bunnings and buying a synthetic lifting sling. About 1/4 the price, and easier to use.

Slings work great. I’ve picked up the odd one left on site by the riggers.

I made one using scrap steel lying about in the workshop. I copied the one shown in the workshop manual . The drawing in the manual doesn’t show dimensions but they are obvious when you look at the engine. Best thing I have done, just so easy to use, especially when used in conjunction with an engine leveller ($40 bucks or so from Supacheap). Cheers, Fraze

engine leveller yes, i also saw the other day a modified engine crane with a boat winch mounted on it which helps with the angling of the engine too
